How was everyone's weekend?

I had a nice weekend with FI. Once every few months we have a tech free weekend. We turn off the phones, computer, tv, ect and just hang out. It is always nice to get away like that for a few days. What did you guys do?

Re: How was everyone's weekend?

  • Sounds nice!

I had a WONDERFUL weekend...my fiance was here starting on Wednesday. Friday I left school early to head over to a good friend's wedding (I was a bridesmaid, she will be my MOH). We got lots of time to hang out with some of my college roommates. Today we had a very lazy morning.

And then he had to head back to school right after lunch (much earlier than usual for a meeting--usually he leaves about now or early in the morning). After being together for practically all of the last 3+ weeks, I'm really bummed about not being able to see him for a whole week. Plus, it's going to be a stressful week at school. Instead of doing anything, however, I continued my lazy day on the couch...
  • I had a super productive weekend. Had a nice Pi Day/Engage-iversary dinner with FI before heading out to a cool local burlesque bar to see my coworker's band play. Got up super early yesterday to have my new tires mounted and installed on my car. Got home and immediately started grocery shopping - Asian market and regular market. I spent the rest of the night cleaning and prepping Irish food with FI.

Today, several friends were supposed to come over for dinner, but everyone cancelled except 1 person. So the 3 of us gorged on corned beef, colcannon, whiskey & ginger glazed carrots, soda bread, and a Galway spinach salad. We closed out the meal with the booziest cupcakes ever. Now I'm prepping all of the food for my office's St. Patty's Day lunch and watching "Leverage" reruns.

  • Productive.   We are almost done unpacking and setting up the house.  Only a few pictures to hang.  I need to order some new equipment to get my work desk phone to work properly.  Hopefully that will be ordered tomorrow and it will be setup by the end of the week.

DH is still at work.  I'm waiting for him to come home and then we are meeting some old friends of his up in Aspen.  Honestly, I'm not in the social mood.  Besides, it's DH's friday, but it's a "school" night for me. He will be wanting to party and I will be wanting to go to sleep.  I'm secretly hoping he gets tied up a work and decides not to go.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.
  • It was alright. I had a good sales day yesterday, Got dishes taken care of, had a mini lunch date with FI today, got my taxes done, started getting BM gifts, and trying (but failing) to coordinate some rentals.

  • I have had a miserable weekend. Studying for finals on wednesday, basically every hour spend studying and occasionally checking online to give my brain a break. My profs are terrible, and I should have worked harder during the quarter, but I was busy finding a job and TAing, and slacked off. Now I've got my butt in gear and am spending basically 8am-10pm or later on campus working. Finals are Wednesday. One at 8am and one at 7-10pm and then I'm officially done for the quarter!  Saturday I get to see my FI for the first time in 3 months. :)

  • Decent.  Got to video chat with FI twice, rented the Veronica Mars movie and got that watched, walked 6 miles on Saturday, and went out with my family for my grandma's birthday lunch.

  • We had a nice but busy weekend.

I met H afterwork for happy hour with one of his co-worker friends and stayed until almost 8:00.  Saturday morning we continued to pack up extra stuff as we prep our house for sale and then we went to a bar to hang out with our friends to watch a basketball game, went out to dinner and did some shopping (new Macbook air!!!!).

Sunday we went to church and I took a 3 hour nap and then did some more packing/staging and some laundry and rented the new Veronica Mars movie (it was awesome).

And the favorite part of my weekend...  Tossing and turning in bed for a few hours because of my 3 hour nap.  Yuck.

  • It was stressful. Do you guys mind if I complain just a little? I love my FMIL. She's really great. She lives in FL and was visiting this week. She's on the phone 90% of the time. I wish I was kidding. Saturday morning I heard her talking on the phone at 5am (it woke me up). Most of her calls are on speaker phone. I'm a very noise sensitive person so the constant conversations on speaker just drove me batty.

Also, I think I have some kind of social anxiety about people being in our house. I don't know. Our neighbor just walked into our house Saturday morning without knocking. Now, FI had lived in this house by himself for a long time. I think some people just got used to it being a bachelor pad where they could just walk in. But Jesus, I live there now and have for the past 6 months! You can't call first before you come over?

Then, FI's friend came over at 8:30 last night. At that time on a Sunday night, I want to be in my pajamas watching TV. Instead, I had to get dressed and hang out.

But there were some good points too. I did have fun with FMIL. We did a lot of shopping and I got some good stuff.
  • Very productive. Saturday I cleaned the house and we built shelves for the closet under the stairs. We still need to hang up a coat rack for backpacks, and we're going to put up one more shelf for shoes, but it's 100x better than the mess we had before.

I had already removed the vacuum and shoes before taking the before, so imagine that but 2x the mess:

Then we watched "The Delivery Man" which was sort of cute. Sunday, we took at 4.5 hour hike with the dog. Then went to the mall. My FI wears a step counter. We apparently walked for 8 miles yesterday. Man, did I feel it! Then we watched the Australian Grand Prix and went to sleep.

All and all a great weekend.
