Another thank you note question

I may be overthinking this, but how would you recommend wording a thank you note for a shower gift where the gift was from the entire family, but only women attended the shower. For example, the gift came with a card signed "Love, Aunt Jane, Uncle Michael, and Baby Elizabeth", but only Jane and Elizabeth were in attendence. Normally, before thanking them for the gift, I would start off by thanking the person for coming to the shower, because I'd rather start the focus on people rather than stuff. I do like to address everyone on the card though. Is it awkward to say "thank you for coming", even though not everyone came/was invited?

Re: Another thank you note question

  • Maybe something along the lines of:
Dear Aunt Jane, Uncle Michael, and Baby Elizabeth,
It was so nice to nice you, Aunt Jane and Baby Elizabeth. I can't wait to see you all at the wedding! Thank you for the gift etc"

    Perhaps?

I'm not sure if there is a rule for this, I would separate it out, personally.

"Dear Aunt Jane, Uncle Michael, and Elizabeth,

Thank you so much for the lovely metal rooster statue. We love it and blah blah blah blah.

Aunt Jane, it was so lovely getting to spend time with you and Elizabeth at the shower, thank you so much for coming. Fiancé and I are so excited to see you all at the wedding! (Or "hope we will see you all at the wedding" or something if you aren't sure if they're coming).

    Love,
    Anjuli"

Personally, this is what I would do!
  • Thanks girls! That works perfectly. I'm not sure why I was so stuck on starting off with their attendence first, but the way you've worded it sounds great. I appreciate the help!
