We're getting married with the chickens!

So Fi and I have been wanting to have our ceremony at a restaurant that is near and dear to us. They have a lovely outdoor patio/garden area. The do also have a full herb/vegetable garden. So when Fi had been discussing plans with me and saying "garden this" "garden that", I naturally assumed he meant the small patio area with the plants and flowers as decoration.

BUT the other night (when I asked him about if I should wear heels…since I asked him "well will I be walking on grass or will it be the paved area?") he told me that it is the FULL GARDEN which has A CHICKEN COOP! Omg I am so excited! He told me that we'll be getting married RIGHT NEXT to the chicken coop!!!!!! I cannot be more excited! He totally knows what makes me happy!

I asked him if I can even take pictures holding the chickens and he said I probably could!

I am so extra super dooper excited to get married now!

PS: I like that I can gush about these things to you folks without it being totally weird. None of my irl friends would really understand my excitement or want to sit through hearing about this mundane stuff. <3

Re: We're getting married with the chickens!

  • The chickens won't be just wondering around though, right? I have a severe fear of chickens (of most birds really but mostly of chickens) and if I were a guest I would probably have to leave your ceremony or be incredibly uncomfortable during the entire thing.

But yay! For something exciting! I'm really not trying to be a downer, just pointing out something to consider :)

  • @bethsmiles, heh, no, they'll be in their coop-enclosure thing during the ceremony. I just want to step into the coop-enclosure and pet them after we're done.
  • Oh ok :) That's really awesome then!

  • Fun!! One house we looked at on the lake had a cherry orchard and sheep and I thought it was about the cutest thing ever. Sadly, I was the only one who agreed so I shall live vicariously through your chickens now ;)

  • Aw @Niccirf, that sounds super cute!

I love animals, and one of our first dates (well, I think it was like our third, but close enough) he took me to this local shopping area that has ducks and I just about blew I fuse I was so freaking excited. So he knows how crazy I go over animals.
  • ALSO, my dress came in the other day (but I haven't scheduled alterations yet), and I tried it on and wore it around the house for a few minutes just for fun. :D
  • Cute!  How friendly are the chickens?  Do they get a lot of human interaction?  My dad has 6 chickens and they're super cuddly- every time he goes out and sits down they jump up on his lap wanting to be pet.  And when you hug them, they rest their head on your shoulders.  They're such wonderful animals when treated properly.  Hopefully the chickens are used to people and you can give them hugs!

@HaileyDancingbear, yea, they've been raised with humans, so they're very friendly (so I've heard, I haven't pet them myself yet!).

Last time we visited we brought Chuck (our big yellow stuffed duck baby that we set up and take pictures with) and I don't know why but the chickens FLOCKED to him. It was hilarious how they all were just so interested and ran over (but they were still in their enclosure, so they chickens didn't touch us).

  • My Fi wants to get chickens so badly. Alas, we live in the city. But, he totally turned my dad to "the dark side" and now he has a full chicken coop built in the back yard at their house. I will have to tell Fi about this. He may want to change our wedding plans (not that such a change would ever happen; I'm too far down this rabbit hole to go back now).

"They say there's no such place... as Paradise. Even if you search to the ends of the Earth, there's nothing there. No matter how far you walk, it's always the same road. It just goes on and on. But, in spite of that... Why am I so driven to find it? A voice calls to me... It says, 'Search for Paradise.' " - Kiba, Wolf's Rain

  • FiancB.. I couldn't love that picture more! Awesomeness!
  • When I was a little girl, one of my biggest hopes and dreams was to have a chicken coop. I could go out every morning with a little basket and collect the eggs. Of course, it never happened, but I too will live vicariously through your chicken wedding!
  • That sounds so awesome! Yay, so happy for ya ;)

FUN! My dad has chickens and every time he orders new chicks, I make it a point to visit because there's nothing more adorable than those little balls of fluff skittering around and chirping their adorable little chirps.
