  I suggest you take a hard look at what you do actually have.  Is this stuff you feel confident in showing guests?  Do your rooms follow a general color scheme?  Are your plates chipped?  Does he have more beer glasses than wine glasses?  If he is anything like my FI then stuff has been gathered over the years with no thought to decor and usually minimal thought as to quality.  FI and I will be doing a massive purge, getting rid of a lot of things that are old, mismatched, hand-me-downs, etc.  It's fine to donate a lot of old things to the good will or salvation army and starting your marriage with fresh items.  It's like, yes we have towels.  And we sleep on a bed so we obviously have sheets and blankets.  But nothing goes together because it's been acquired over time.  We are getting rid of all of it as soon as the wedding is over.

  
  

  You might also want to look around and see if there are any new appliances, kitchen gadgets, etc that you have always wanted or that have been developed recently.

  we lived together before so we have a lot of stuff combined from what was "his stuff and my stuff."  Currently we are living with his mom and sister, while we had the year to open a business and save for a house of our own.  We plan to buy this summer after the wedding (before if the right thing comes along).  Anyway,  We still have a lot in storage and FI felt we didn't need to register, but we (meaningme, my mom and his mom)  convinced him it was the time to "make his stuff and my stuff" our stuff.  We went with a "smaller" registry but still found things we could upgrade and then now we have a color scheme, so its not just a bunch of random things.  We plan on giving our other stuff to charity or his sister since she is planning on moving to an apartment next year.

  </div><div>All of this. Take some time to figure out what you guys want your home to look like and how to make it that way. When FI and I moved in together, most of my bed stuff was pink and most of his stuff was dark green. So we compromised on a light blue bedroom. He had solid black plates (there was no compromise, I was like "those have to go, and now!") so we re-worked our kitchen. Look for things you can upgrade, too. We've registered for a new toaster because ours is pretty old and crummy, as well as a new crockpot for the same reason. :)
