Day of Sched...and HAIR!

I still haven't booked day of hair yet!! Slightly freaking out.  I can't bring myself to pay these prices (or ask my bmaids to get their hair done for the prices as well)  I'd rather just have my sister and myself get ready alone the day of but all of my other bridesmaids want to get their hair done too!  With that many girls you can't fake it not being a wedding :-(  Plus the photog wants to do first look at 12.  With 7 girls hair to be ready at 12 we'd need to start by 7 or 8 am?

...I'm afraid it's going to be a stressful day!  Maybe once I find a location it'll be okay.  I emailed 10 different people today!  I'm going to put an ad on craigslist (scary!) to see if any beauty school student(s) might want some extra side cash to do it?  Obviously I'd ask for a trail to make sure the day of Im not screwed haha

  • Look and see if there's a Regency Beauty Institute or Paul Mitchell Salon nearby. I've never been to PMS, but I've gone to RBI a couple of times, once for a hair dye (that I loooove) and once for a formal hair-do, which was really pretty (only $9 too!! you aren't allowed to tip either, since they're students)! The only downside is that both times it has taken FOREVER. So maybe you could find a few students!

Have you tried a hair salon? I know I have gone to hair cuttery and they had a wedding party in there getting their hair done. With big chains it might be cheaper because you are just asking for a formal updo. I still haven't got someone to do my hair yet but I did find someone for my makeup this weekend. If they come to you they are really expensive, and for me its just the bride getting ready so most wont even respond to me because I won't meet the min ppl or cost to come to me.

  • I actually LOOOVE Paul Mitchell the school. I used to always get my hair colored there.  I called but they are booked.  I don't know about Regency, but there is an Aveda school near my apartment but they are pretty terrible for hair cuts, I've never tried their updos (and pricey!)  I actually completely forgot about them until now.  Thanks!
  • I second looking for beauty school students! One of my good friends is enrolled at National Acadamy Beauty Arts, and she's fantastic :

  • What if you let your girls each pick their own salon?

  • Okay depending on how good either you or your sister ar at hair, you could always try giving your own a go. This may be out of the question, but all I'm saying is, you or your sister (or a relative or friend who does hair well?) can do yours and your sisters, and everyone else can be responsible for their own. That way they can decide if they want to do their own or go to a salon.

  • I'd definitely say look for a cosmetology school near by.  Depending on the number of students everyone may be able to get their hair done at once.  Also very inexpensive!

  • I say just worry about finding a hair salon/school/whtaever for yourself and let the BM's find their own.  Personally, I'd rather not go to any stylist but my own becuase she knows my hair well.

What time is your wedding?  12 seems pretty early for a first look...
