Have you seen this rescue?!

Yesterday there was a 5 alarm fire in Houston. The rescue of a construction worker was caught on video.

Sorry if it's not a clicky link. I'm on my phone.

  • Oh my God my heart was in my throat this entire time even though I knew they were gonna get him!!!  How terrifying.  He was smart to swing himself onto that other balcony.  That's incredible.

  • It was all over the news yesterday. It was a crazy fire because of the gusty winds. (I live in Houston)
  • I do too. I was in work yesterday until late and driving from one place to another for work. I could see the smoke no matter where I went. So I missed seeing the news.

I could see this fire from my office building window. Well, not directly the fire, but certainly the smoke. I work about 5 miles away on the 4th floor.

I've also seen and heard interviews from Capt Brad Hawthorne, who was the fireman on the ladder. I'm so thankful for what firefighters do for us.

ETA: There are many news links with pictures and more stories up on the website for KHOU, a local  news station. If you're interested in seeing more about it, I'd definitely check there.

Also, this same apartment complex was covered by KHOU on Monday (the day before the fire) because people weren't happy it was being built literally feet from a historic cemetary. As in headstones a mere yard from the walls. That part seems suspicious, but it could be completely innocent.

"They say there's no such place... as Paradise. Even if you search to the ends of the Earth, there's nothing there. No matter how far you walk, it's always the same road. It just goes on and on. But, in spite of that... Why am I so driven to find it? A voice calls to me... It says, 'Search for Paradise.' " - Kiba, Wolf's Rain

  • I could see the smoke from our town south of Houston. It was still smoldering when I was in town around last evening. Thank god the worker and all of the firefighters are okay.

It made the news all the way over in New Orleans, because I got all sorts of WTF is up with that fire?? texts.  I was in classes all day and didn't have a clue, but when I checked the news I was all HOLY SHIT!

That was such a dramatic video and I was all agog!  I'm so happy that he got rescued and that no one was hurt.

Kudos to our awesome fire fighters!
  • You know what's even more crazy today? There is another fire breakout in the Heights. A church got caught on fire. The weather isn't helping today either. http://www.khou.com/news/local/252483591.html
  • I've been catching up today on it and it's crazy and agree a bit suspicious.

Fire fighters are some of the most amazing people. I have such respect for them.
