XP : RSVP card wording.

I posted this in the paper and invites, but this board is more active, and I want to make sure I get it right.

I made a boo boo on mine, and I will have to re order. So, now that I have to re order Im going to make sure that they are perfect.

Whats the best way to word the RSVP so that people can RSVP or decline the easiest way.

I attached a photo of what is said on mine, and theres no box to decline.

What should I add / replace ?

Something like this is an option:

We look forward to celebrating with you

    Please reply August 12 2014

We have reserved ___ seats in your honour.

    Names : ________________________________________________

___ of ____ accepts with pleasure
___ of ____ declines with regret

  • I would change the Names:________ to M________

Out of curiosity, why do you prefer the M?

(FTR I am not doing the M because I have several people on my guest list who go by Dr or Capt socially.)

Unrelated but funny story.  I apparently grew up under a rock, and when I got my first invite as an adult, the RSVP card had "M__________".  I wrote "I have no idea what is supposed to go here, but it's me, hikebikebemerry, and I'm super excited for the wedding!"  Luckily, the bride was a good friend of mine, so she got a kick out of the change up.

I can be a bit of a flake at times.

I have always seen the M, but it never really bothered me. lol

I will change it to M so its more formal.
  • @dv2a under the M __________ I would put ___ will attend __ will not attend. And on behalf of your guests I would like to thank you for fixing this. I was just invited to a wedding where the response card simply said ____ number attending. We are not able to go so I was really confused as to how to respond. Eventually I put 0 for number attending and scribbled in a line below that we were sorry we couldn't be there. Just putting 0 for number of attending felt really odd and impersonal to me.

It's more formal and looks better than Names:___, IMHO

  • I knew that I would have problems with RSVPs from DH's side and ended up actually writing everyone's names on the RSVPs with a place for them to check yes or no.  Since I printed them at home, it wasn't as hard as it sounds and it came out looking very nice and there was no confusion.

  • I got one for a really formal event that was just a line. Literally, just a line in the middle of the card. It did say, "The favour of a reply is requested by [some date]," but it didn't include little "will attend" or "will not attend" boxes. So that was pretty strange.

    I like the M.
