Wedding Invitations & Paper

Escort cards question

We are ordering escort cards to match our invitations, because I am crazy and like matching things. I want to order 1 per couple to save a little bit of $. This works fine for Mr. & Mrs. Smith, but what about people whose partner has a different last name? Should I do separate cards in that case? Or put them both on the same card with the alphabetically first name, first? Or do I need to suck it up and buy 1 card per person?

Re: Escort cards question

  • It's fine to include both people on the same card. In 12 years of attending weddings with FI, I've never gotten a separate escort card from him.

  • It is perfectly fine to include multiple people on one card whether married or not.  The only time I have ever received my escort card was if they were using them to denote which meal option I picked (such as orange cards=chicken and blue cards=fish).

  • Whew, OK! I guess I was totally overthinking this...
  • I'm doing one per couple, listing unmarried couples on separate lines in the same way as my invitation envelopes. Then I'll have a little stamp in a corner denoting their meal choice... a chicken and a fish, two fish, whatever. I won't know which person ordered which (RSVP cards stated "indicate number of each," not initials) so I couldn't do them on their own cards anyway!
