Re: scared more then anything need help

  • scale back on your current wedding plans or put off the wedding until you can afford what you want

  • Plan the wedding you can afford.  Figure out a realistic amount that you can save every month, multiply it by the number of months between now and the wedding, and there's your budget.  You may not be able to have the wedding of your dreams, but a lot of brides here have been able to have really fantastic "low budget" weddings with a lot of hard work, research, planning, and DIY projects.  Take a look at the DIY boards for some ideas.

  • Sorry that you're going through this.  We wanted to elope, but now it seems like his parents are coming and so are my three boys.
What we did was choose to get married at the beach as opposed to getting married in Tennessee.  In South Carolina there are plenty of packages you can choose from where you get so many pictures etc.  Our wedding is only going to cost us $285.00 and that's for the pastor, the beach wedding package, and some other things.
I'm choosing to have a silk flower bouquet instead of real flowers.  They should be cheaper than fresh flowers, and they will last forever and not die the next day.
It cost us $100 for our marriage license because we're out of state, but it lasts forever and never expires like some states do.
To plan your wedding you need to set a budget.  Try David's Bridal for inexpensive dresses.  I found my dress there and only paid $249 for it and I love it.  My cake topper I got from Oriental Trading for $9.99 and our champagne flutes were $19.99 with free engraving.
Oriental Trading has so many wedding decorations and favors that are very inexpensive, so you may want to try them and see if they have something that you like.
If you want help I can always help you out through this website.  I'm on a very tight budget and haven't exceeded it at all.  Let me know and you can private message me.
Goodluck and I hope these are some ideas that will work for you.
    Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.
    Denise

Marriage licenses expire?? Are you referring to before they're made offical(pre-wedding) or after? I've NEVER heard of it expiring after the wedding (assuming you've sent it in to the correct people)

Plan the wedding that you can afford and that won't jepordize your financial stability. I highly advise not using loans and try and stay away from credit cards and you don't want to be paying interest.

Be thrifty and trendy and look to people who can help you (maybe a friend is very creative and could give you inexpensive decorating ideas)

Like PP said you need a bride, groom and officiant as well as a witness usually to get married. Plan the wedding you want and can afford. If you must, push back the date to reduce stress.

It'll be fine and dont sweat it!

  • it's more than a year away so you have time to cut back on the guest list and in other areas.  No limo, no aisle runner, etc.  Skip all of the extras.  You'll still have a great day!

I just wanted to say that in my state, you have only 60 days between the day you get the marriage license and your wedding day, or the license expires and you have to get a new one.

And after you get married, your officiant has only 10 days to file your completed marriage license/certificate or your marriage is invalidated and you must marry again.  No kidding. - see below.

    And the license costs $93.50.

Florida marriage licenses are valid for 60 days from the issue date. The marriage ceremony must be performed between the effective date and the expiration date on the license.

  • Cutting down on the guest list is the most efficient way to cut costs.  It can be difficult to do, but will save a lot of money.  Head over to the budget board for other great money saving tips.
