Bridal Breakdown - PLEASE HELP!!

I just found out that the DDB company is having “issues” with their second bus so they are unable to do our 5pm – 7pm strip tour on our wedding day. In fairness, they did try to rectify with an alternative 6pm – 8pm or 6pm – 7pm cruise of the strip. They will be issuing us with a refund so its not the end of the world.

The issue is our ceremony is at 3:30pm and we already have a cocktail hour from 4pm – 5pm. I can’t justify extending my cocktail hour any longer. So.. I now have a massive 2 hour gap from 5pm – 7pm 18 days before my wedding.

I’m completely FREAKING OUT! I need you rational minded knotties to help me out here. What the hell do I do with my guests? We have already taken them to Fremont Street and have already done the party bus thing on Saturday night. Big Bus Tours LV is $418 per hour with a minimum of 3 hours and doesn’t allow any drinks on board (not that we need to drink – but still), I don’t think I can justify it

I need some serious suggestions and FAST! FI is keen to just pay Big Bus Tours extortionate rates so that everything stays "as is". I'm beside myself.

  • Yikes! So sorry. How big is your party again? I know there has been discussions about other party bus companies, depending on group size.
  • We will have 30 guests

  • Oh no! Hopefully this is all the bad luck you will have in Vegas! Are you more concerned about having something for your guests to do or getting them to you reception location?
  • We got a quote from elite transportation for a party bus at $180/hr, 34 passenger They allow alcohol on the bus but they do not allow food. I contacted two other companies and they haven't responded.

What about passing out chips and telling everyone to hit the casino after cocktail hour?

  • I don't think know she wants the party bus since she mentioned she will already be doing that on Saturday.

Mo I wish I had some kind of suggestions. I've been thinking about this and I have nothing. :( I'm sure your day with still be so amazing!

  • will it cost more to extend your cocktail hour longer? what is your plans for after 7pm? I'm trying to think of different ideas for you to do

  • I was trying to avoid the party bus cos it wouldve been already "done" but I will check out the party bus with Elite Transportation.

  • I think like @shoebunnie said, passing out some casino chips would be a good idea because then they could drink 'for free' while they gamble and entertain themselves until the reception... It's Vegas, everyone will appreciate some gambling time, or time to run to their room to freshen up or just walk around and see the site! :) Mo, the whole rest of your day is going to be so fantastic that no one is going to even miss the bus portion!

  • Thank you all! I spoke to Alan at Elite Transportation and we have organised a party bus to transport guests to the sign and then to Maggianos. It isnt the DDB but at least we can offer drinks and have glass bottles on there. We also get to use the koozies that we have already purchased.

I think we will still do a stop at the Bellagio as a toilet break and to catch a fountain show but they will play music videos and have the lights going so it should still be heaps of fun.

  • Or what if you sent them on a mini scavenger hunt? I made up a little wedding related list last year when we went for my sister's stagette. Or just bite the bullet and do the bus for 6-7 pm, then that gives your guests and hour to wander and freshen up. You'll have so much planned for them that no one will even blink at having an hour of free time. Or I wonder if you could book like a hypnotist or something for that 2 hour time slot? Or get your guest with the biggest hotel room to donate their room for 2 hours and get a flat or two of beer to tide the guests over? Or pay for a bus to transport your guests to freemont street for an hour or so (this could be tricky to get them back in time with traffic?)

Okay, that's all I got! Whatever you choose, don't stress, you are already treating your guests great, those two small hours will go by in a blink! :)

  • Oops, ignore all those suggestions, I wrote it at the same time that you wrote you had already solved your problem! haha.

  • No! Thank you for all of your suggestions. I was in such a bad place before I needed some clear thinking brides to help me work it out. I had become so obsessed with my wedding MUST have the DDB but hey... in the grand scheme... a party bus will still be fun for our guests.

  • I'm glad it worked out for you missmo. I too really wanted the DDB and I know I wouldn't mind the evening temps in vegas in July but I was afraid some of my guest would t like t so we switched to the party bus. Still vegas and it will still be a blast. Your almost there!
  • Just saw this!  So glad it worked out!  You day/weekend is going to be awesome, your guests are so lucky!!!

  • <hugs> No stress! Glad you solved it! Remember that your guests are grown-ups and will have more than enough to look at and do if anything gets delayed. If they are bored here, it's their own fault, not yours. :) Good luck!
  • I think your new plan sounds great! I can imagine how shocking and stressful this was for you given the short notice, but you make a great alternate plan and your wedding will be fabulous! :)

  • Oh man...if it makes you feel better, I have about an hour and 15 min gap for my guests to get from Aria to Maggianos. I figured they could hang out on the strip or do what ever they wanted until the reception. We are doing a strip tour with Todd during that time and I figured there is a lot to do in Vegas to keep them entertained lol.
  • Hopefully this will be the one thing that doesn't go as planned :) glad you worked it out
  • Ok so I missed all this and Kelly from Langdon video actually told me about it haha. Be glad you don't have the DDB the owner/our driver was a total ass! Before we met up with our guests he took all back roads not the strip we could not stand AT ALL not even while stopped blablahblAh the list goes on I'll write more in the review but ya be happy it worked like that!
