I heart beards!!!

My FI has a huge beard. People always joke with him about Duck Dynasty or Al Quieda (I know, not funny but they say it). I have always been so attracted to men with beards my whole life and I never dated anyone that couldn't grow a full beard. People assume FI does it for hockey season and they always ask if he will shave for the wedding. OH HELL NO!! That's how I find him sexiest and I don't let him shave hahah. Any other ladies out there with a bearded groom on the wedding day??

Re: I heart beards!!!

  • Nope, not here.  Fi occasionally gets scruffy during winter but I love seeing his face.  He looks good clean-shaven.

When he has a beard he reminds me of my dad during winter.  No thank you!

"I'm not a rude bitch.  I'm ten rude bitches in a large coat."

  • My FI has a nice full beard. Not long or anything, but full.  I told him he has to give me warning if he ever wants to shave it; I've never seen him without it.

  • My FI gets the Al Quieda and Duck Dynasty jokes from immediate family too. He gets a pretty full beard when he is too lazy to trim. He will trim for the wedding though on my request. I made him a deal, I'll shave my legs and wear my hair downish if he gets a hair cut and trim his beard. I just want it nicely trimmed because that is more him.

I don't really care one way or the other about beards, in terms of appearance. Some guys look better with beards than others. My fiance looks pretty great with a beard (although he doesn't ever trim it so it's kind of annoying right now).

My issue? I have a LOT of trouble kissing him when he has anything more than a little bit of stubble. He's had a beard for over a month now (cartilage tear in his wrist--can't shave) and auuuughggghgh fucking beard.

  • DH refuses to grow me a beard.   Partially cos he's not allowed to have them at work, but even on vacation he won't.  He got about 5 days of scruff in once before it got too itchy and he axed it all.  He said he had one once when he was young.  I just want to see him with facial hair!!

  • Been with DH for 22+ years now.  I have NO idea what he looks like without a beard.  His is neatly trimmed and he looks awesome with it.
  • I have a major thing for facial hair. H has a goatee and mustache and sometimes sideburns. He'd love a full beard, but it just doesn't come in on his cheeks very well.

I also feel like most men look better with facial hair. I was devastated to see that Adam Levine went clean-shaven for the latest season of The Voice.

  • DH had never had facial hair before our honeymoon.  He just doesn't grow the hair well.  On the honeymoon, I told him to not worry about shaving.  He looked so cute with his little scruff (after two weeks, he had the amount of facial hair my dad and brother could grow before noon) that I asked him to keep it.  Then it just got really long and would swoop to the right like the wind was blowing all the time.  He had a job interview and I told him he HAD to shave.  I kind of miss the scruff.

  • DH has a lovely beard. Grew it a couple years ago. I like him with or without, but I would love to see his face again someday.
  • H is very bearded. We were at a wedding on Saturday and all anyone could talk about was his beard. He's been clean shaven 3x in the 7 years we've been together and our wedding day was not one of those times. I love love love him with a beard. I wish he'd trim it right now, though. It's becoming a bit unruly.

  • @phira I find it easier to kiss him with a beard....to me the 5 oclock shadow it so scratchy and sharp it hurts me to cuddle lol

@winstonsgirl Men always make that comment to him "isn't it itchy? I tried to grow one and it was so itchy". He says once you stick it out the first 2 weeks that totally goes away lol

  • I love scruffy face. FI is big into sporting a beard currently though. But when I ask him what he's going to do for our wedding, he always says clean shavin' because that's how he imagined he'd look on his wedding day.

  • MY FI will be bearded on our wedding day :) He loves his beard and right now, he refuses to shave until the wedding.  He plans on shaving 10 days before the wedding that way when the wedding day comes, he will have a thinner, cleaner beard. His hair grows back really fast so 10 day scruff on him is actually just a beard. I love his beard and wouldn't want him clean shaven for our wedding anyway ;)

  • When FI and I started dating he was clean shaven. I saw pictures of him back in college with a beard and thought it looked really attractive on him so I asked him to grow a beard for this past winter. Loooooooved how cute he looked with it. I finally asked him to shave it a week ago (he was planning on it anyway with the weather hopefully getting warmer). Now that it's gone I miss it! Which then lead me to ask him if he'll grow out his beard for the wedding because I found I actually prefer the bearded look on him!

  • I've never seen my dad without a full beard. They look nice and all but I was always against them on guys I've dated because they remind me of him (love dad, it just struck me as creepy). FI had a goatee when I met him but then I realized that he actually keeps a beard most of the time. He works from home and only loses the beard when visiting a client, weddings, funerals, and dressier social occasions.

I'd prefer him clean-shaven but my family loathes his labret piercing. He loves the goatee and I find how it conveniently distracts my mom from the piercing!

  • I LOVE BEARDS!!! BF has a beard and I love it! It's so cute on him. In the years we've dated, I've never seen him without it. We were digging through stuff looking for our passports last week and he found his old passport (from when he was 19-20) he didn't have a beard in the pic and I didn't even recognize him!
  • I'm a sucker for beards! My FI has had some sort of facial hair since we were 14 (pretty much as soon as he could grow it, he did). We've been friends since we were five, so obviously I've seen him without a beard but I love his facial hair. He has only been clean shaven a handfull of times since we've been dating and that was for a job.

People ask him all the time if he will shave it for the wedding and we're like, "NO?!" We'll trim it up good but when he has a beard is when I find him most attractive.

  • I love beards.  (To the point where after I broke up with the guy I dated before FI, my sister said, "well hikebikebemerry, you really dodged a bullet to be quite honest.. he couldn't grow a good beard.")

Thankfully, my FI grows an awesome beard!  He looks fantastic with his beard, and I would be so upset if he shaved it off completely for the wedding day.  The only time that I don't like the beard is when his mustache is too long so it pokes me when we kiss; so I got him a bear trimmer for Valentine's Day, and now he keeps his mustache at a kissable length.

  • I have seen pics of my FI with a goatee, but since he's in the Army, he's not really allowed to have facial hair.  I think he's been enlisted so long that he would have a hard time growing out his facial hair or hell, even the hair on his head.

  • I love my fiance's beard, but he just grows it in the winter usually. When springtime rolls around, he shaves it off. I'm not sure if he'll have it for the wedding or not.

@jenna8984 I always hope that it'll be easier to kiss him when his beard is longer, and he's been very responsible about conditioning it in the shower to make it softer, but it's just not working. Either it's short enough that it's too abrasive, or it's so long that it's getting in the way of his lips. He likes how he looks with a beard (and he loves not shaving), but he prefers to be beardless, so I'm happy about that.

  • H has been wearing a constant scruff for about 2 years, but he shaved for the wedding.  He looked very handsome but he looked so different!

He decided to shave on his own, he didn't want our wedding photos too look dated (think 70's mustaches) once the scruffy look went out of style.  I thought it was adorable that he thought ahead like that.  :)

  • @severmilli12 Everyone sends me those beard ones on FB because they know how much I love it!! Tattoos as well. A mutual friend set us up years ago, when she asked what my type of man was I said "beard & tattoos" and she said "oh my God you will love my friend xxx". Well she was right!!

  • @jenna8984 haha same here. Not gonna lie, when I first met FI, the tattoos and beard did it for me. I was like, "well hellllllo...what's your name?"

  • FI can't grow a full beard since there are a few weird patches that refuse to grow hair, but the last few months he's had a goatee. When he does shave he just uses the clippers to shave down to scruff since he looks like he's 19 if he is clean shaven.
