Gaghh Bridesmaids gifts might not be on time

I'm so frustrated. I ordered robes from ComfyClothing on Etsy over a month ago and they still have not shipped!
The lady messaged me and had me pick out another fabric because my original choice ran out. Okay that's totally fine, I know that happens. But then the 30th came and went and nothing! I paid an extra fee to have them shipped by that date and when I messaged her last night she told me "Oh no, they haven't shipped yet, but I can ship them tomorrow since they are all done!" Uhh if they are all done why didn't they ship already? She could have messaged me and let me know that things were running behind.
The soonest they can get here is 3 days before my wedding which is cutting it pretty close!
I'm also annoyed because she threw in a "Oh but I'm only a one woman company" thing. Look I get that it's hard to run a business, and yes it sucks to run out of supplies. But part of good customer service is communicating with you customers to let them know when things like shipping are going to be late, and not charging them for things if you did not deliver on your end.
I'm sure it will work out fine. But beware if you order robes from Etsy that they might take a long time to get to you, so I would order with more than a months time if you can. I had a month and a halfs worth of time before my wedding when I ordered but apparently that was not enough!

I think most of the regs would advise that you give something a little more personal than robes for a gift. Generally they advise that you shop for a bridesmaid as if it were their birthday. Just FYI

I agree.  Since you already got the robes is it possible to add on a second, more personalized gift?  Also, if the girls are required to wear the robes for getting ready pics then they are no longer a gift at all...
  • Yeah, I agree with above. If they are "getting ready" robes, that's not really a gift.

Maybe cancel the order and get then individual gifts that suits each of their personalities. It needn't be expensive, but it does need to be thoughtful and show them that they are in your WP because you love their personalities, not because they fit the correct outfit (which coordinating robes says to me).
  • I had the same thing happen for my wedding. It wasn't part of their gift, but I ordered three pashminas for the girls in case they wanted to cover their shoulder or be a little warmer during the ceremony.  When I ordered them, I asked the seller to tell me if they couldn't be here by March 22.  No response.  Her shop said it would take 5-7 business days on the general information tab.  So after 7, I wrote her and asked for an update.  No response.  A day later, I wrote her and just told her to cancel it. That was the Monday before the wedding.

She wrote back right away.  "I'm so sorry, mailing them today! They'll be there!!"  Ok, awesome.  Two days later I write asking for the shipping #.  Only then do I get an email saying she printed the label. WTF?  I wrote again saying, unless you overnighted it, I'll be needing a refund.  No response.  I get home from our honeymoon and it turns out she NEVER actually put them in the mail. I opened a claim with Etsy because she refused to respond and wrote a bad review.

  • Since the vendor isn't dependable, I would cancel the order and request a refund. Shop for you bms like you're shopping for their birthdays.

Stuck in the box. :-( This sounds like a blessing in disguise. I don't know how well these robes will be received as gifts. And honestly, if they truly are gifts for your bridesmaids, and not something to be used for "getting ready" photos, then it shouldn't matter if they arrive a day or two after the wedding (unless, of course, you're leaving the country the day after).
  • Yes, I would take it as a sign that you should get them better gifts.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14
