What to do when you don't like, but only mildy dislike, a co-worker...

This girl at work is not well-liked.  I felt bad so I invited her along to grab food a few times at lunch and now I think she is assuming we have a sort of standing lunch date.  (We just grab food and bring it back, salad bar or whatever.)

I'm in a bitchy mood today and had to manufacture an excuse to get out of carpooling with her without hurting her feelings.

Ugh.

  • Why don't people like her?

She's annoying.  Like, talks too loud (so loud that I actually said something to her a couple of times and I don't do things like that), can't keep her mouth shut when she should, smells a little funny.  She's not
terrible but I don't want to run around on my lunch break with her every day.

  • Totally get you.  I would just bring my lunch or tell her you have a lot of work to get done during lunch and eventually she will probably stop asking.  I had a girl at work like that and she had a very distinguishable laugh that just made your ears bleed and was extremely loud.  She got the hint eventually when I would stay in or do work at my desk/have lunch at my desk.

  • I have a coworker who can be very annoying. Among other things, every time I go out to get lunch, she assumes that she is invited because we grabbed lunch a few times and the pattern just started. I just started saying that I had a personal call to make (which is usually true) on the way there and back.
