Mermaid Wedding? WTF?

Have y'all seen this?

Apparently, you can get "married" by a mermaid, underwater, while your guests watch through portholes. Then you all have to go outside, because wait, the mermaid isn't actually licensed to perform marriages, and your guests get to watch the real ceremony.

Damn. I wish I didn't already have everything planned.

  • I would love this.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • We specifically stopped at a motel in Montana last summer to see the Mermaids at the Sip N Dip bar.  Totally worth the stop

  • That's really funny. They should just get the mermaid girl to be a legal officiant (can't be that hard to get a JP certificate?)

  • I didn't mean to imply the whole thing is terrible. I would actually love to see one of the mermaid shows.

I just think the way this is done is a bit of an etiquette train wreck. Guests have to show up to two different ceremonies. And at the first one no one can actually say anything.  So, I guess what I'm saying is super cute idea, but pretty poorly executed.

  • I agree with @Artemischief

    Cute idea. Bad execution.

  • I think so far I haven't seen anything wedding related that I wanted to do less than this.I'm a great simmer, like mermaids, wouldn't do it if my entire wedding and reception was free. Being fake married by a costumed character before I'm really married would not sit well with me. It also sounds a bit annoying for the guests going through all the motions twice. But to each his own.

  • Is this legit? Because it launched April 1 and I'm always weary.
