Hi everyone,
We are lucky enough to have ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception at the same beautiful venue. Right now our ceremony is expected to start at 12 noon (as the invitations indicated) and our cocktail hour beginning at 12:45/1pm, immediately succeeded by the reception. Unfortunately, due to the way our venue runs things, it seems that the cocktail hour cannot be completely set up before 12:45. It would be rude to our guests and vendors to start late (and heck! I'm not waiting a second longer than necessary to marry this amazing person). And it's about a 5 minute walk from ceremony to cocktail hour.
My timing problem is that I have written/assembled the ceremony myself and although I have read it through multiple times (readings and all), I'm not exactly sure how long it will run. I'm not clear on how long the processional will take, how long to pause for the exchanges between 5 short readings, passing rings to our guests and back, and presenting our personalized vows to each other. When I've read through it aloud at a reasonable pace I get somewhere between 20 - 30 minutes.
The extra time will get filled in naturally, right? Processional, people getting up to read, sitting down again, getting weepy (me), etc.? Fingers crossed!
Then happy I, that love and am
beloved
