I just accepted a meeting at noon on friday and thought... I wonder how full schedules are that we're having a noon meeting on a Friday. Then I opened up my calendar.

  • I have 1 presentation tomorrow to the partners
  • 6 meetings on Thursday, including two that overwrap and a presentation of a client presentation to one of the partners for final review
  • Friday, 4 meetings including a digital plan recap meeting and a brainstorm for a fall/holiday campaign for another client... I'm also still expecting an invite to polish up an additional two presentations
  • Monday- one client is in the office all day and I need to prepare something, but no one has told me what. I also have to polish four client presentations and maybe attend an event for another client
  • Tuesday/Wednesday- traveling and presenting twice to two different clients. And while I'm gone a coworker needs to present for me twice to another client because that was the only time they could come in.

So... that effectively leaves me one week before the wedding to do all of my March reporting, all of my content for May, developing two more plans and then writing aaaaalllll of this up so everyone knows what is going on when I'm gone. And, I still need to finish crafts for bridesmaids/groomsmens gifts, paint the guest bedroom, do escort cards, print and fold programs and um... I'm probably forgetting something.

If you've seen me around a lot today, it is because I'm having a hard time coping with what is ahead of me.

Oh, but the good news is that I ALSO need to pick wine for the wedding and tell the inlaws what to buy. So wine party at my house like, now.

  • Haha, just had another meeting scheduled for tomorrow.

  • I do not envy you one little bit, except for the wine part.

As a side note, this is why I am getting married in June when my faculty members are off contract (I work for a university)! I can't imagine trying to put together the final details while dealing with a heavy workload!

Is your FI helping at all? Tell him to get to folding! :)

  • Unfortunately, there is no 'off time' for me. Just my luck that things always build up right when I need to to calm down. But thankfully, my partner meeting tomorrow is about structuring a department around the work I do. I'm currently the only person doing what most agencies have a whole department for. So I'm HOPING this means that I may, in the near future, get some help! My direct supervisor is already freaking out because there's no one to do what I do when I'm gone in Spain for most of May.

  • I can totally relate.  FI and several of his family members work at schools, so we had to schedule our destination wedding for summer (end of June).  Unfortunately, March-August is probably busiest time for my job... and I don't really have a "slow" time... it's just busy and busier (which I'm actually very thankful for).  Lately it seems like I just got completely dumped on at work... and everything needs to be done ASAP. Currently, I have probably 6 or 7 projects on my desk that all "need" to be done this week, but each one is about a week worth of work. That is enough to drive me nuts even without adding wedding planning to it. So, I have a lot of long work days and working weekends ahead of me. And late nights of wedding planning.  And I always get a large influx of work in May because my main client's fiscal year starts May 1, so we get lots of work from them when they get more money budgeted for new year. And I have to get all of this done before mid June so I can actually leave the office and be out of contact for 2 weeks... in the 9 years I've been here, I've NEVER been out of contact on a vacation, nor have I ever taken that long off at once.  And I work in a 2 person office and can't have anyone else do my work while I'm gone, so it absolutely has to be done before I leave. So far, I've been handling is rather well and taking it all in stride (except for the occasional sleepless nights). I keep trying to tell myself that stressing is counter-productive. And I can only do what I can do. So, I push as much as I can, do what I can, but try not to let it drive to completely bonkers.

  • I'll be closing not only monthly (June) financials but also quarterly and mid-year financials right before my wedding. The last work-day before my wedding is the day we begin pre-press so I will have to be there since I manage all the traffic. And I will be back at work bright-eyed and bushy-tailed on Monday because, well, production. That will run until 3rd week of the month, I have 2 or 3 days of quiet before I start closing out July financials. So yea, honeymoon? What honeymoon? lol
