I pulled some ice cream out of the freezer and all of the sudden there was this noise. DH and I look at each other and go "ah shit." We pull the frig and the water line had broken free. I go to shut off the water and the valve doesn't hold well and it starts leaking. DH was cussing and trying to pinch the copper pipe while I'm cussing trying to pull up the packing on the main valve.
We finally got the fridge line to a tiny drip and the valve to stop completely. OF course there is no more take up in the valve and DH destroyed the fridge fitting. We don't have the tools to replace the fitting or turn off water to the house so now we wait until Friday when FIL can come with the stuff or we pay a plumber who probably couldn't get her any earlier.
