But OMG, I wish I knew what we were doing because there'd be an offer in on this like yesterday if we were going this direction

Yes, I've heard MI is the way of FL when it comes to real estate.  You get lots for cheapcheapcheap.  I'm sure I'm making a sweeping generalization (those are fun, right?).

    House flipping...so 2007. ;)
  • I told DH to go do a drive-by.  :D
  • This is just a few miles from where I went to middle/high school, and my mom still lives.  Its a great area, and good schools.  If your going to live in the GR area, this or Comstock Park (where I lived) are a good bet.  You are close to big city stuff but more like small town life.

you can get good houses SO cheap in MI.
(which is one of the reasons why I can't move easily--stupid upside-down, bought at wrong time stuff)

If that is where I think it is, it's a nice area too

So many pictures of the kitchen made me worry about the rest of the house, but the rest is pretty too.  The detached garage is the only downer.

(and that kitchen looks a hell of a lot like mine.)

  • Ugh, I hear you. We almost made an offer on a house, and we're not even interested in buying yet. Zillow is like crack.
  • wow, I really need to leave New York and move somewhere houses aren't STUPIDLY expensive.

I love how many Michigan people there are on here! It's always cheap to buy but soooo hard to sell. The problem is we are so poor here. :(

If you head anywhere past west branch GOOD LUCK finding a house that isn't run down and disgusting.

  • My brother just let a house go through a short sale in West Branch, it had been for sale for 3+ years.  But up there is a lot worse, my sister just sold a house in Rockford and it sold so quickly they had to live with her inlaws while their new house was being built. She had it for about 5 years and sold for a small profit.
