Lineup card seating chart??

Hello! I saw a similar post to this, but I never heard about what the bride decided to do.  I want to use lineup cards for my seating chart.  However, I have quite a large wedding (200 people or so) and I don't want the cards to be confusing to guests.  The main problem (also identified in the other post) was that guests would have to search for their names on about 10 different lineup cards. One of the suggestions was to alphabetize the lineup cards and just put a dash or something to indicate what table.

Has anyone done this?  Are there any suggestions?  I have my heart set on using the lineup cards, but I just can't figure out how to make it work logistically!!  THANK YOU!

  • Like escort cards?

Usually escort cards are easier for guests than a seating chart. Escort cards should have the person's name and table number.

    Yours might be
    Ms. Tmida Lastname
    Table 12

the easiest way to organize these is by alphabetizing by last name.

  • If what I'm thinking it going to happen, this sounds like it could go south really fast. Just have escort cards with their names on the alphabetically. This is way easier for everyone.
  • @tmida - what the heck are line up cards?  Could you post a picture of what you are thinking of doing or explain what line up cards are?  I am confused.

  • Yeah, no idea what a lineup card is.  Explain?

Listing names alphabetically is a way easier way for people to find their tables.
  • I dont know what a line-up card is.

  • I think what you're picturing is posting one larger card per table, with the list of the people seated at that table, right?  Like they're the "line-up" for their table?
While I think it's cute, it's potentially problematic and will create a clusterf*ck wherever they are posted.  The easiest thing to do is to create traditional escort cards, one for each person with their name and table number, sorted alphabetically.
You could always create a sign or something for the escort card table that is modeled after a line-up card or roster, directing people to grab their escort cards.
  • I think it's more than "potentially problematic" - I think it's sure to be a logistical nightmare, especially with 200 guests.

Just have regular escort cards.  This is making things harder for no reason except cute-factor.  And it's not cute enough to bother imo.

  • Do you mean escort cards?  Or a chart that lists who is at what table?  Or a baseball-themed line-up chart?

I don't quite know what you mean by line up cards, but if it is as gmcr78 has explained, I think that it may be logistically problematic, plus printing an extra card per table.

We had place cards with the guest's name on it and their table number below their name. Cards were set out alphabetically by last name.

    Thus:

OP what on earth is a lineup card?
  • I'm starting to think somewhere in here there's a "Who's on First" joke, but I haven't found it yet.
