  I keep sending her emails with links to $300+ flower girl dresses with notes saying "if you love me, she'd wear this." (Our plan is to buy an inexpensive dress off of the Easter clearance racks.)

  @ElcaB- we've seen Zulily too.We could very well end up doing that if we don't see anything in the next few weeks. We're having 2 flower girls- my niece and his niece. My sister and I have similar tastes but FI's SIL has different thoughts. We have similar opinions but her tastes go towards the princess-y.

  Absolutely! There's something really creepy about children dressed as miniature adults. Blech.
  (I do love the J Crew dress. I admit that if we had a little flower girl, I would be reeeeeaallly tempted. More likely, I'd be spending multiple days researching where to buy pale peach and smoky silver rhinestones, and then multiple nights cursing myself for the idea while I made a knock off.)

  Don't despair over the prices. Just wrap the baby in burlap and aprx. 60 yards of tulle. Stick a dinner plate sized flower to her chest, and voila. She'll be very well behaved, because she won't be able to walk. (Etsy, of course.)

  Damn it, @lolo883. You posted that picture, and I made an aaaaah noise, and my daughter came running. Now she's making big puppy eyes at me, and dropping not very subtle hints. "It's a very simple pattern, really," and "Kendall would really really love that." If I end up having to make this I am holding you directly responsible. Edit: The Watters dress, not the purple child-eating flower dress.

  The JCrew dress and Lolo883's dresses are both gorgeous- but the $$$!
  
  I already feel awkward about spending on a wedding dress but a dress that a kid will ruin in a few hours is beyond me. My niece will be 2.5 (too young, I know but she's too awesome and we don't worry about her behavior) and FI's niece will be 5.5. Both are young enough that the night will end with 2 completely trashed dresses. Plus, I'd rather they have fun than have parents worrying about staying clean!

  Burlap is really scratchy. I cannot imagine putting a child in that dress, let alone an adult. My arms would be raw by the end of the evening. (I tend to rest my arms in my lap.)
