Bridesmaid Gifts

I am the WORST shopper/gift giver, ever.  I get stressed because I want to buy gifts the girls will use and like, and are specific to their personalities and what not.  Not just gifts that are fillers, cheap, impractical, etc.  Do you guys have ideas on what you have either bought your bridesmaids or what you would want to recieve yourself if you were a bridesmaid?  Be honest! I feel like we have all been in one of the two positions and you know when you open your gifts and you're like, great another candle for my house that I dont light because I'll burn the house down, or awesome another photo album to use but you usually end up taking all the pictures so there's never any of you! Help! Thank you!

    Don't give me candles, smelly body products, or bags of any size. I'm sick of makeup bags, change purses, and tote bags. And what am I going to do with 2 wine glasses?

    I know that it was bad etiquette but my sister gave us all jewelry to wear at her wedding. She had it custom made and I still wear it regularly. Each set was personalized for each girl just a bit- my necklace was longer, one had different earrings, etc. It was lovely.

    Someone recently got me a monogrammed business card holder. I love it. I've also gotten an engraved silver makeup mirror I love.

    Most of our WP has small kids and minimal funds so we're planning to give each a "date night"- movie tickets, gift certificates for favorite restaurants, a bottle of wine or 6 pack, and a coupon for us to come and watch their kids for their night out.

    My BMs all love wine, so I am considering getting them each a different bottle suited to their tastes & chocolate to go with it. 

    Personally, things I enjoy receiving are team t-shirts (go, CLE!), alcohol (wine, beer, or a bottle of Patron would do it!), and sunglasses (I can never have enough). 

    I'm pretty over typical BM gifts --- no frames, candles, perfumes and/or lotions, or bags.

    I'll be getting all my BMs a bottle of their favorite wine and a nice thank you note to go with it. I am also paying for them all to get their hair and make-up done with me on the morning of. I know its probably not proper etiquette to count that as a "gift" but I wanted everyone to be able to relax together, and all the girls mentioned they would rather do that then get a silly gift that they might never use.

    I paif for my BMs to have their hair and MU done professionally the morning of the wedding. They were all perfectly fine to pay for it themselves but I thought it would be a nice surprise. I also gave them a card, robe and a picture frame.

    (I know robes arent popular gifts here, but my BMs asked for the robes. And I didnt make them wear the robes during the getting ready pictures.)

    I got mine gift cards personalized to where they like to shop/eat.  I also included a heartfelt note and something small like a candle with a saying about friendship on it.  For all of the "small" gifts I included the gift receipt in case it was something they didn't want to keep.

    I was thinking of giving a personalized tumbler (personal for the girl not to my wedding); a bottle of her favorite alcohol, be it wine, rum, vodka etc; and a drink recipe book to go with the said alcohol. We are all beachy/lounge around bums in our spare time so laid back gifts will go further for these girls.

    I got them a bunch of bags, jewelry to wear on the wedding day, NARs & Sheseido make up, and robes to wear the day of in their favorite colors :-)

    I love to read and who doesn't love a t-shirt?  So I would like a t-shirt from Lithographs.com; either Uncle Tom's Cabin, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, or Little Women.
    I love massages but would never spend the money on one myself (I'm cheap) so I would love a gift certificate for one.
    I also like movies so a gift card to the theater would be nice.
    A gift card to one of my favourite restaurants would also be appreciated.

    I am giving each girl a gift card for a massage (ordered off ebay,..saves $$) and then a cosch wristlet from the outlet. This way they can relax and the wristlet isn't for the wedding use, but something they can use regularly

    This wont qualify as a gift since its part of their uniform.

    Yeah I would be totally bummed to get this stuff and would probably never use it again.  Bags, jewelry in the bride's taste, makeup I didn't pick out, and a robe?  Why?

    OP, there are lots of other good ideas here though.  I LOVE the idea of a "date night" for couples with small children.  Something personal and thoughtful like that will go a long way.

    My best friend got us makeup and a coach clutch to use on the wedding day.  We loved it and I thought they were awesome gifts.  Then again, as her bridesmaids we were very close friends, so she knew what kind of jewelry/makeup brands we like...  personally I'd rather get jewelry, makeup or robes a million times over getting a bottle of wine or a gift card.

    Me too. I don't drink, and I tend to forget about gift cards. I love the girlie gifts.

    I went onto etsy and got each bridesmaid a pair of earrings. They're not to wear at the wedding, though. Each pair is different and suited to the bridesmaids tastes. Also, another idea I have if we are under budget close to the wedding and I want to get them a little something else is pepper spray from Damsel in Distress. They have little pepper sprays that come in different colors and patterns. It's cute and practical.
