Happy Easter

Happy Easter everyone.   Those who don't officially celebrate Easter I hope you are still taking advantage of the awesome candy available this time of year.

I'm heading to DH's brunch in a few.  What is everyone else doing today?

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

Re: Happy Easter

  • Heading to my parents' dinner in about half an hour. They're being really nice to us this year - we only have to bring buns and olives. The apartment is a disaster zone because of the move and I'm not sure I could find anything to seriously cook with in the kitchen.
  • We did ears few years ago for Chef.  He wasn't a fan.

  • Happy Easter! DH and I don't have any family close to where we live. We are having a prime rib dinner tonight, and I'm going to make brunch soon. I hid some chocolate for DH in kitty-safe places, but kitty is on a mission to try to get it.

  • Happy Easter to you too! My friend and I went to Walmart to buy candy for our fiances yesterday and the cashier said "oh how many children do you have?!" We both laughed and said "one 30 year old!"

We have Easter Dinner around 2 with FI's family. My parents are coming as well this year. It should be fun, and my mom is bringing her chocolate peanut butter eggs

I don't really celebrate it so I'll just be doing some work.

I hope everyone has a great day today! And lots of candy!

  • Happy Easter!

We gave the dogs their baskets around 1am because they were going nuts sniffing them.  FI and I also gave each other baskets with candy and such.  We went to mass at 10:45, then brunch, and we walked around some local shops just because it's so gorgeous out.  When we came home, we took the pups out for a jog around the neighborhood.  Now we're watching some movies and I'm making FI a ham for dinner (I don't eat meat so it will be egg salad for me!) and I'm also thinking of attempting to make a cheesy bread.

We would've traveled to see family, but FI already scheduled all his PTO for our wedding/ honeymoon and his brother's wedding.  Since it's a 24 hour drive, we saved the money and instead sent out cards to family.

  • Happy Easter!!!! FI and I went to brunch with my BFF and some friends. We are going to head over to dinner at his grandma's. And in the meantime I am watching The Little Mermaid  :)

  • We hit Vigil Mass last night (all 2.75 hours of it) and then hit Easter Mass at 9 a.m. today. Whew!

Then the obligatory family brunch/drama crap, and now DH is at work and I am preparing to do some spring cleaning!

Happy Easter!   Here in Grand Junction, CO, several churches meet on the Colorado National Monument to wait for the sun to rise.  http://www.nps.gov/colm/index.htm   This is less than one mile from my front porch.  It is a special way to celebrate Easter.

Where have you been this week?  I saw your super posting about "It's my wedding..."  I was alone at the mercy of the PPR  (Pretty princess reception) newbies!

  • Happy Easter!
The original plan went like this- watch the Pope on TV, and bake accursed Pintrest rabbit rolls that end up either looking like obese cats or demons. It sounded like a quiet afternoon.
Instead, ended up rushing down the freeway to take Grandma to the urgent care, because she's having breathing issues. (Yes, I still have a grandma. She's a sassy 96.)
Truly hate Dr/hospital waiting rooms, but there is Internet. And I dearly love Grandma. So not my planned Easter Day, but I'm amazingly fortunate to still have Grandma Sassypants in my life, so no real complaints. Just waiting to hear if she can go home safely. Fingers crossed.
Also, I have chocolate. All will be well.
  • Hope grandma is okay.  Keep us posted.

We were honeymooning in the South! A glorious week of seeing sights and taking old house tours and eating good food and relaxing and just enjoying each other and our six months of marriage!

I think I gained six pounds despite our miles of walking all over God's green acre in Charleston, Jekyll Island, and Savannah. We must have walked 10 miles a day and I STILL think I gained six pounds.

  • How lovely!  This would have been a great week.  I lived in Memphis, TN for four years.
Now I am picturing you bursting out of the Scarlett O'Hara vamp dress.  LOL.

  • Happy Easter!

We went to church with FI's family this morning, then breakfast at his cousin's house. I had a pretty bad night's sleep (FI was very restless and hit me in the face twice while fighting some dream-villain), so I fell asleep for 2 hours after breakfast. We came home and I made dinner for my mom - ham with a white wine/tangerine/candied ginger glaze, garlic-y carrots, and mashed potatoes. Our photographer stopped by to borrow my deep-fryer and we hung out for a little bit with her brother when she dropped it off after dinner, which was a good thing because we had a boatload of cake left from our tasting yesterday. So now we only have 1 box of cake left after being picked through three times already. lol

  • @HisGirlFriday13 I love Charleston so much, hope you got some great weather!

I just got back from a friend's wedding in the Hill Country of Texas. I was a little bit miffed about having to miss my church's Good Friday and Easter gatherings, but I went to church there and it was nice. The wedding weekend was lovely, despite some pretty egregious etiquette fails. Anyway, now back to real life...

  • @HisGirlFriday13 Hope your honeymoon was fantastic!  Fi and I keep meaning to visit Charleston.

We went for a hike together; it was a little chilly but beautiful.  Then we went to Fi's family dinner, stuffed ourselves with pasta, meat, and cheese (I at least ate some salad too), and played with the little kiddos.  Came back home and collapsed on the couch.

@lalalaurita We can wait while you type it out.
  • I slept through Eucharist this morning. Oops. Met up with the family for brunch at the club.  Cousin's atrociously behaved kids weren't quite as bad as they were at Christmas, I got to catch up with another cousin over mimosas, and I didn't fall off my new heels in the middle of the buffet line. All good.

Then I had to go to work. Yuck.

  • Went to church with some friends. Made creamed eggs on toast = my favorite thing ever and all online recipes for it suck (grandma's is the best).

Took migraine meds to beat the migraine = success. Took a 2 hour nap due to migraine meds. Watched Game of Thrones episode 3! Eek!

Going to bed early (for west coasters) so I can get work done tomorrow.

Well, I was going to refrain for fear that it might give HGF a heart attack but since you asked...

B-list bridesmaids (presumably also B-list guests), registry inserts, not inviting SOs by name (including my FI who the bride's family has met), inviting someone to the bachelorette party who wasn't invited to the wedding, and a honeymoon fund jar. The bride also "gifted" us necklace charms to wear at the wedding, for which she required that we provide our own gold chain.

Hey, I'm back from vacation and totally ready for some etiquette horror stories!

And that one was a doozy.
