Anyone familiar with Ontario?

We are planning our honeymoon in Quebec City, and will be driving from Michigan. I'm trying to find a place to spend the night along the way but am not sure exactly where to start.

We don't need anything fancy, just a cheap, safe hotel, and a place to grab some dinner. I'm thinking we'll probably want to stop maybe an hour or two east of Toronto along the 401.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what cities I should be looking in?

    Sounds like a great trip! Sorry you won't have time to stay in Ontario. If you are just looking for a place to crash, you can find plenty of options along the 401. Just an hour east of Toronto are Whitby and Oshawa, where you can find several no-frills options. In Whitby (off of Brock St). there are several options in a row, with restaurants within walking distance. After Oshawa, the options are slim until you get to Kingston, which is another 1.5-2 hours away depending on traffic. If you would like somewhere a little nicer, there is a Westin near the 401 and the 404, so you would not have to venture too far into the city (it is at Don Mills Rd. and York Mills
