engagement party

My fiancee and I got engaged about a year ago and our wedding is about a year from now. Is it too late for an engagement party?? THoughts???

    I think a lot of people would say yes, but I don't think that it is.  I've been engaged for two months (The Knot suggests having an engagement party within the first two months), and I've only just begun looking for a place to have it.  It is EXTREMELY unrealistic to have an engagement party planned on LI within two months, if you're not hosting it on private property.  I'm already having places tell me that they are booked for June and July, so our party will be way past the deadline.

    We are having a two year engagement, so I'm not terribly worried about timing either.  It happens when it happens.  As long as you get to celebrate with people you love and you aren't stressed out trying to make that happen, I don't think it matters when it happens.

    Question..  What made you decide to have an engagement party now, after a year?
