Student photographers

Has anyone heard of using a student photographer? Is it a good idea? I dont have a lot of money for my wedding and thought it would be cheaper. If anyone has heard of this, I live in Northwest Alabama if you could give me ideas on who/how to contact.

not a good idea IMO. Would you trust a student driver with a one-of-a-kind car? No. Should you trust a student photographer with your once-in-a-lifetime wedding day? No way.Cut expenses anywhere else you can so you can afford to hire a pro with plenty of experience shooting weddings.

I agree with pp. After everything is said and done - the flowers, invites, dances - all you will have left is the photos. We are cutting way back on all parts of our budget, and we aren't paying an exorbitant amount for a photographer - but we made sure we got someone we liked and trusted, and we got the package we wanted, not the one that had the lowest price, because that's all we'll have left.

I know that they've probably went up since I booked them, but try White Rabbit Studios, they are out of Huntsville and I think they travel. They shot my wedding and engagements and bridals (they were vertical house photographer before) they're amazing and they were affordable to me! One thing I like is they don't do prints (I am using MPix for my prints), but they give you a full resolution cd with all the photos they take and they have no limits on how many photos they take (I got 140 images for my engagements). Here's their blog: http://thewhiterabbitstudios.blogspot.com and their flickr is http://www.flickr.com/photos/whiterabbitstudios. Hope this helps!

As a student photographer, I would say definitely NOT. We're all still learning and doing a wedding is way to stressful to start out on. Plus, also being in North West Alabama (I go to UNA), UNA doesn't offer digital photography classes. We do old school film, Black and White, which look cool, but definitely not practical, especially for a wedding!

Not a student. But I am a professional just starting my own business. I've been shooting for more than 12 years. I've done lots of weddings with my ex-husband (pro photographer) you can say I've learned from the best. I will shoot your wedding for a very low price. And to show my commitment and skill I will do the pre-wedding photos for free. I need to build my customer base, so this would be a great chance for you to get some awesome photos for a very low price.
