Re: wedding crashers

  • sorry, didnt mean to post on the ettiquette page :p

  • I heard about that from my FB Philly friends (I'm from the Philly area).

I'm sure I'm in the minority, but as long as I wasnt' charged for anything extra because of the wedding crashers I would just laugh it off.    Any reputable venue wouldn't charge for them.

What differentiates an average host and a great host is anticipating unexpressed needs and wants of their guests.  Just because the want/need is not expressed, doesn't mean it wouldn't be appreciated.

I'm South Jersey area. It made me laugh. i love that they posed for pictures. lol
  • I had a semi-wedding crasher.  He came with a sort-of guest (which is a whole other issue).  Anyway he is a TON of pictures of our wedding.   He had a great time out.   I laugh every time I see the pics.  No idea what his name is.

I agree with this. And what is the couple planning to do once they find out who they are?
  • Slow news day?

I think it's a kind of hilarious, as no harm was truly done (hopefully they didn't eat/drink things that were for guests). Going and dancing? Inappropriate, but hey. I accidentally crashed a wedding once, so I'm biased I guess.

  • I can't understand how this even made it on the news. I think it was silly of them to post those people's pictures all over the news and call them out like that. They had their wedding in a casino so they had to know there was a chance other people could come in if they didn't have security at the door. I think it makes the B&G seem a little ridiculous, especially when they didn't even know those people were there until they started looking through pictures and video. What did they hurt really?

  • This is hilarious! I mean, no harm was done, so whatever.

It seems like the bride is just bored now that her wedding is over and needs some more attention!
  • I live in Philly too and saw this on the news.  The bride said now she wants to be invited to their wedding!!
  • Funny, I would think most people would just laugh it off.  And I'm surprised it took them so long to notice.

We had a crasher that came in from the hotel after dinner.  He was wearing tennis shoes, shorts and a t-shirt so it was obvious.  MOH liked dancing with him and he seemed nice enough so I said hello and had the photog take a picture of the three of us.  He then asked me if we were doing a dollar dance (I couldn't believe how many people asked about this) I said no and then he went to the gift table and put a $20 on it.

Later when his two buddies tried to come in I told them one crasher was enough for the reception and they left without hassle.

You mean...your wedding WASN'T ruined by someone you don't know, and your marriage WASN'T invalidated by having a stranger in your wedding photos??

My cousin had wedding crashers. They stole a bunch of alcohol the bride and groom paid for and created a scene when they were politely asked to leave. On the other hand, the swans living in the lake didn't like them much either, haha.

    LOL  - nope.

I come from a for a Irish-American (read fair skinned) and DH is from an Italian-American family.   Both sides of the family have a lot of vertically challenged members.

The wedding crasher was a very good looking,  well over 6'5", bald,  black guy. To say he stood out was an understatment.   He was  tearing up the dance floor. Especially with the old ladies.  Seriously dancing up a storm with the 80 year olds.   He certainly had a good time. Pretty photogenic too.

*** why I say semi-wedding crasher is he came with a girl who was allowed to come so she could drive her parents.  Her dad worked for my DH.  He drinks, mom doesn't drink or have a driver's license.  It was an OOT wedding that happen to be about an hour from where the daughter lived.  They asked if she could come as a driver.  Even though we never met her, we said "sure".   We had no idea she was bringing a date.

I still laugh at the thought of attending your girlfriend's dad's boss' wedding an hour away  Whatever, we had no shows, it added nothing to our costs.  The co-worker was able to attend and had a great time hanging with the gang.   Top it off we got a good laugh out of it.
