Buying Dress Online??

has anyone ever used Kelly Dress Price.com or Pinnacle Peak Place.com (they look like the same company) to purchase a dress?

If not, do you have any recommendations?

Re: Buying Dress Online??

  • Chinese knockoff sites. Don't do it.

Only buy from legitimate stores (i.e. places that have a brick-and-mortar store here in the US)

See the FAQ thread at the very top of this board's posts.
  • A reputable online dress seller is pearlsplace.  They always get great reviews and are a legitimate retailer for the dresses they sell.  There is a real brick-and-mortar Pearl's Place store.  As pp said, avoid the Chinese knockoff sites. For every positive story you hear (and those sellers pay people to post good reviews so don't let that fool you) are 100 more horror stories.

    This!

David's Bridal also has some similar dresses for good prices.

If your on a budget I highly recommend. And I am a real buyer not someone who was paid to write this post. Just thought I would share as I had my reservations as we'll

Of course you did.  Because normal people who have no other posts besides digging up a months old thread need to make those clarifications.

I bought a dress for my mom at French Novelty.  It has  a brick and mortar store in Fla.  The have wedding gowns, bridesmaid gowns, MOB gowns, and FG dresses.  Their dresses are cheap, but not alarmingly cheap.  I had my mom try on the dress at a store in the area, and I ordered the same dress through this store.  I am scared as hell it won't fit right, but my mom's dress was 200 dollars cheaper through this company.  The only problem is... will it fit?  Not getting your measurements from a seamstress at the bridal shop and opinion as far as the line (does it run true to size, or do they pad their numbers) is the risk you take when going through a store not in the area.  I will keep everyone posted about the reviews.
I would say, regarding your wedding dress.... don't take a chance.  It is much easier to find a MOB dress than a bridal gown, in a pinch.  French Novelty has great reviews, I would not go with a chinese knockoff site, as the stores you have mentioned.... way too much risk. But even French Novelty is a risk, because they have not seen my mother and we are just going according to her measurements and actually ordered two sizes smaller than it had stated because the 12 was a little big on her in the store.  VERY VERY nervous that the dress won't fit. AT this point, I am not sure the price is worth the unknown.  I can't imagine wanting to have such uncertainty with your own wedding dress.  Like I said, i will keep everyone posted to my mom's dress when it arrives, and give the company a review at that time.
  • I bought a dress from PinnaclePeakPlace.com and when the dress arrived, it was nothing like the picture.  It looked like someone who had never sewn before had tried to make a dress.  Awful.  It wasn't wearable and not fixable by a seamstress.  We are trying to get our money back from them but there is no phone number and they don't return emails.  Don't trust them and don't trust their return policy.  They are a Chinese knock off company.
  • @Lseels - would you be able to post pictures of your dress just to show others why not to buy from an online retailer such as this one?

Even though this is a few months old:
I agree with what's already been stated, if you must order online go to a 'true' retailer.  If you're on a budget, you can still try on dresses and try to find something more in a reasonable price range on tradesy or other classified boards.

    Anniversary
  • Hello,
on January 31st I placed an order for a bridesmaid dress on pinnacle peak place. I choose the ordinary delivery so it took around 60 days to receive my dress. I was completely aware that I was not buying an original designer dress, I just wanted to get a nice and special dress at a good price. I received it on April 5th, right on time.
The product is very good (I'n not an expert but I got both my mother and grandmother to take a look at it to tell me wether it was made well or not) it is well done and sewn. All laces and decorations were accurate and precise, the inside is very comfortable, the zip is perfecly hidden in the inside... It looks a lot like the one in the picture, it came in the measurements that I sent (maybe a little more loose, but that is not a problem), therefore I would say that I'm really happy with it.
However, I'm not going to wear it: this is just because it is very heavy and the wedding I'm attending it's in July so I would truly melt in it. I must be honest and say that I though it would be much lighter than how it actually is, but I must take the blame for this, I was the one who choose a "structured" dress. So, in the end, my opinion is: yes, you can trust the web site in terms of quality and delivery times, yes the dress I got was perfect, just make sure you have someone to help fixing it in case it is a little loose.
I'm not going to return it, I think I'll try to re-sell on the web as I believe it would be a gourgeous wedding dress (and not appropriate for a bridesmaid, it is just too much) and it really is well made. My goal now is to recuperate some money so I can buy a new dress for this wedding, so I'll might try to re-sell it just for a little lower price (around 200 $) !! I really hope my experience can help you, and I'm sorry I don't have pictures yet, I'll try to get some soon. If my English is awful please forgive me, I'm Spanish but I did my best.

p.s.= the reason why I signed in just a couple of days ago and left my first post on this board is because a few days before the dress was delivered I was desperately looking for reviews on the web site and I found this page. I read a few posts and I got so scared that I was really worried I would never receive my order. I thought my opinion would truly help someone just like yours helped me. If you have any other question, please feel free to ask.
  • I ordered my dress on Pinnacle Peak Place 19/3/14 and received it 17/4/14, so it came much earlier than I expected (given time was 50-60 days including shipping). The dress was well made with minor imperfections (eg. a few loose threads here and there) but nothing major, especially considering the price I paid. The size was pretty much what I had ordered, with the bust area slightly too big as the measuring guide specified to wear a bra when measuring.

I was very worried as it is the first time I've bought clothing online, I would say the overall experience with Pinnacle Peak Place was 3/5. Although I do recommend the product, it was very hard to get in touch with them. The live support was offline most times I had tried to talk to a representative. The first instance where I managed to have someone online resulted in no response as I was 'being connected' for over an hour, and the second instance where a representative called David was, what I felt, brushing off my questions with "Don't worry, your dress is being made" and "Don't worry, you will get it". I had requested an order number during this conversation, as it clearly states in the email you receive to confirm the order of the product to be able to track its progress, but apparently there is no such thing, only an invoice number is available. After this live chat and three separate enquiries made through their help centre (which are supposed to be answered within 24 hours), I received one reply with my invoice finally. So overall, order the product but don't expect much service.

PS: I wrote this as a review on the site as well, but a message pops up saying "Thanks for the review, we will get back to you within one working day". Obviously this has not happened, but checking the reviews on their website, mine is not there, so I suppose they filter all the reviews they allow onto it.

  • I've only bought a dress online once for my a military ball and let me tell you, I will NEVER do it again. I gave them my exact measurements, to the centimeter. I still got it, a week and a half before the event, and it was about four sizes too big. Far too large, and with no advanced notice, to even take it to get it altered. And this was just for a military ball. As much as the attractive price tag may tempt you, I would say don't buy your dress online. This is something huge for you and you should be able to actually physically touch and even try on the dress before you commit to buy.
  • I had to order a bridesmaidsl dress online (don't ask lol) anyway I ordered it from Pinnacle Peak Place. And unfortunately I didn't search until after I made the payment. I'm now pretty worried after reading these. Anyone who has ordered from them....a dress was recieved right? Loose threads etc is the least I'm worried about. I'm mostly worried a dress won't show up lol. Du-oh for me :(

It will probably show up, most of them do.  But, usually the sizing is WAY off, and it's not an issue of loose threads.  It's an issue with it doesn't fit, or the fabric or color isn't anything close to what they promised.  Or, doesn't look like the same dress.     Some people get luckier with bridesmaids dresses than they do with wedding dresses, so maybe you'll get lucky.  :(   I'd look for a backup plan though, just in case.

Yeah I'm going to have to figure out a back up just incase. The dress is for one of my bridesmaids. I ordered my wedding dress online and it was perfect, different site though. We shall see what happens I guess.
  • Well the dress I ordered definitely came (ahead of time too!). I had no complaints about the dress I bought because they were only very minor issues, but as I described their customer service is non-existent. I think your dress would definitely come, but if there are any issues it will be very hard to do anything about it. Hopefully you ordered it with plenty of time to spare so that you can go to Plan B if anything happens.
  • Excellent. I did have to email them and change my address and they did answer to get the new one but that's about it lol

I finally received an email saying the dress would be here on or around the 20th. I am still terrified no dress is coming. I was just wondering what company delivered the dress to the gals who ordered off of that site? Your right, no customer service at all and im trying to figure out a back up plan but god am I ever scared. Someone calm me down! Lollol
  • I bought my dress from a website: www.dazzlebride.com.

The dress was 90% as the picture which was good for me, they use beautiful crystals to do the decorations and not cheap sequin. The size was good.

A friend recommended me that website that has been opened by one of his Swiss friends living in China.

I contacted the website by email the first time and they were very nice and helpful. They always answered me in a maximum of 48 hours. The website is quite recent so the owner takes care of the customers directly, which was quite convenient as his English and French were perfect.

The prices are good not as cheap as you can find on some websites like JJ's house but the quality coming from is better too so I don’t really mind an extra 100 USD if it means the dress will be nice looking.

I strongly recommend this website to buy an evening or wedding dress, the fact that it is managed by a western person that understands our worries and questions makes it much easier.

I think that not all wedding dresses coming from china are bad quality, because most of the dresses sold in shop locally (in western countries) have been produced in china (Vera Wang Dresses for example are produced in Suzhou). I think the real challenge is finding a company you can trust to do the basic quality check before shipping the dress. I must say it did help my trust that I knew someone who knew the owner personally and could assure me they worked professionally.

  • Knottie44729825 those veras are made in china yes almost all designer wedding dresses are made in china but they are made in a shop that is exclusive to that designer they are the only ones who have the dress patterns for that designer. any other shop online claming they are selling the designer gown for half off at prices to good to be true are not authorized retailers .

the shops in china that sell online only have stolen photos of the dresses they then will take both the front photo and the back of the dress photo and try to do exactly like it is shown but the dress will never come out the same.

Knottie44729825, I strongly suspect you are a vendor.  English does not seem to be your native language.  I suspect you have an ulterior motive in recommending a Chinese knockoff website.
