Coney Island?

Have you been to a wedding or did you consider having your wedding at the Moonlite Gardens in Coney Island? How was it? Any idea on cost? I don't live in the area so I've never been to Coney Island. (Fine print: We aren't engaged yet but when it happens it will likely be a short engagement, so I'm trying to learn about the area now. We're old. Time is ticking.)  :)

Other ideas welcome! It will be very informal and would prefer outdoors or a great river view. Thank you!!

    Hi!  I'm having my 5/15/10 wedding at Moonlite Gardens at Coney Island.  It's a very pretty open-air venue, and I'm really excited about it.  In terms of cost, I found it to be pretty reasonable and I compared to other venues.  The buffet packages (they only have buffet) range from $39.95-$49.95.  The top three packages from $42.95-$49.95 include beer, wine & liquor - but it is a little confusing if you choose the alcohol bar or the non alcholol bar with the package (it, we may have to pay extra to have soda & tea, which is stupid!)  So there package prices are reasonable, but they do charge extra for lots of stuff: extra reception time (reception is only 4 hours), floor length linens instead of lap length, and the real stickler for me: white chairs.  They provide these hideous green plastic chairs that look like they are for your back yard.  They also have perfectly nice padded white folding chairs, but they charge you $5.95 for each chair if you want to use them instead.  I know it seems silly, but it's driving me nuts - I don't want to pay for a nice reception only to have hideous green plastic chairs!

    Anyway, I think the total cost for our 200-guest wedding should be $10-11K.  I think it's going to be a really pretty venue and am excited!  If you have more specific questions you can email be at abromanello at yahoo dot com.

    My cousin had her ceremony and reception there.  It was absolutely beautiful!  Very nice!  GL hope your engagement comes soon!
