Please help me end my MOH Speech!

So I have my speech all written out but I need an ending. I'd like to end with a toast I guess, but would also like to incorporate something about today (the wedding day) being the bride's birthday. Any ideas?

TIA!!

Re: Please help me end my MOH Speech!

  • How long is your "speech"?  Because, really, you shouldn't talk for more than two minutes.  Practice.  Time yourself.  Speak it outloud.  Two minutes.  Any longer than that and I've turned to the person next to me and started talking and drinking.
  • I think it's a little out of place to mention the bride's bday and wedding day being the same unless it's on their anniversary. It's also difficult to incorporate a conclusion when we don't know what your speech consists of.
  • FYI, if you're posting on multiple boards you should precede the title of the post with "XP" (cross-post) to clue people in. The same people read all the boards. :)

I'm not sure how the rest of your speech goes, but I ended my toast to my sister and her husband: "I wish you many years of love and happiness.  To Kathryn and Mike" and as I said the second sentence i raised my glass so everyone would follow.  I don't see where a birthday wish would fit in with that though.
  • I ended my last one "so I invite you all to join me and raise a glass to congratulate bride and groom."

I agree that I wouldn't end on her birthday.  If you want to wish her a happy birthday in the toast, I would do it at the beginning.

Don't end it by mentioning the bride's birthday.  You might say something like, "So I'd like to offer my congratulations and best wishes to Bride and Groom as they begin their lifetimes together as a married couple."

  • @eburgmama - I put my answer on the chit chat board, but I will post it here, as well.

I couldn't think of a better birthday gift for the bride, than to know that she will spend the rest of her life with someone who loves her so dearly. May every day of their marriage be a gift, filled with surprise and happiness. Here's to the bride and groom.
