Wedding Invitations & Paper

Confetti?

My stationer has come up with some really awesome invitations. I'm very excited, so now we are getting down to the details. She asked if I would be interested in having confetti in my invites. While I want a fun vibe at my (brunch) wedding, I think confetti may be a bit much.

She has added little "bubbles" on the envelope lined and RSVP card since we are big on champagne and having a champagne/mimosa fueled reception and I guess is thinking the confetti is an extension of that. I think I would get annoyed if I open an invitation and there is now a mess on my kitchen table, instead of thinking, oh how cute, bubbles!

Thoughts? Thanks!

Re: Confetti?

  • I would be extremely annoyed if I opened an invitation and a bunch of tiny pieces of paper fell out that I then had to clean up. Double that annoyance if my dog gets to them before I do.

I'd skip confetti...just leaves a mess for people to clean up.  If you want to use confetti for something, I'd get the kind that disolves in water and use at your ceremony as you come down the aisle as bride/groom...if venue allows.

Skip the confetti.  I used to like it but now it's something I'd have to wrestle away from my toddler or one of the dogs before somebody ate it.

  • I open any cards standing over the trash. If there's glitter, confetti, sprinkles or other stuff - the card doesn't even come out. Everything goes into the trash.

I was thinking about it, for a hot minute, but am now totally against it! Thanks ladies!
  • One of my aunts used to put confetti in cards.. for EVERY CARD.  Finally, my other aunt saved up all of the confetti from all of the cards (including her kid's) and mailed it back at the end of the year.

Yeah, leave out the confetti.  It seems cute but it's very messy and more trouble than it's worth.
  • I would never speak to that person again if they sent me confetti in a card. Glad you reconsidered, OP.
