Can't decide on Hotels TI, PH or Cosmo any input?

Hi All-
Wanted to get your input on hotels. We're getting married at the Bellagio (I love the fountains!)  But I don't want to stay there as it's way too expensive for my guests and not my style.   I really want to stay at the Cosmo but that may be too pricey for all my guests, some will love it and others won't want to spend that much.  So I was thinking about two options in addition to Cosmo, either Planet Hollywood or Treasure Island.

PH because it's right across the street from the Cosmo and was less $ than the Cosmo
TI because we were thinking about having a welcome dinner there and then going to see their Cirque show Mystere. So that would be convenient and it was less than $ Cosmo too.

So anyone have any experience staying at Cosmo, TI or PH?  Thanks in advance!   I'm really struggling with what to do.  It's about 15 rooms total.

  • I really want to stay at Cosmo too. I'm trying to work with them to get a group rate (I'll have about 15 rooms too) but they told me to check back in June when they release rooms (I'm looking at March 2015).

I stayed at both the Cosmopolitan and Treasure Island when I got married last year. The week of the wedding we were in Cosmo for 7 nights then after our road trip we spent 4 nights at TI. Obviously the cosmopolitan was great, I loved it but TI was good aswell particularly for the location. It was a great price at TI and that's why we stayed another 4 nights rather than just 1or 2. I'd stay at both again. Ultimately I do like a modern great looking room though and that's where the Cosmopolitan really delivers. I liked staying somewhere nicer for the week of the wedding. Are you set on everyone staying at the same hotel, my guests all stayed at the Aria and Vdara. I wasn't particularly concerned about staying close to the ceremony/reception locations as taxis are so easy and we walked everywhere for other get togethers. My wedding was at Caesars and reception Venetian. My parents stayed at the Vdara the week of my wedding then similar to us they went on a road trip then had two more nights in Vegas staying at TI. They really loved both hotels and they were glad to have the kitchen facilities/ nicer decor/ non smoking hotel for their week long stay but they raved about TI in terms of location. If your guests haven't been to Vegas before that might be something to consider. We did go in July so being more accessible, mid strip helps when it's so hot.
  • I have stayed at Cosmo, and I LOVED the room.  It was probably one of the nicest I've stayed in.  The casino is beautiful and the restaurants are top notch, but the pool left a LOT to be desired.  My fiance and I stayed there for 4 nights last May, and every day we'd go out to the pool, and the chairs were all full by 8:00 am with people holding chairs with their towels.  It was so annoying.  Also, I'm mid-30s and I felt really old there at the pool.  That's just my opinion.  If they could take that room and put it into the feel I get at Aria, it would be heaven!

  • I don't know if blocking hotel rooms is an issue for you, but when I spoke with Treasure Island they weren't able/willing to accommodate a courtesy hotel room block like a lot of the other hotels on the strip. I have heard great things about staying there if you don't need a block of rooms though! :)

  • I stayed at Cosmo for the wedding (with my sister the night before, girls got ready there, and with H after the wedding) and loved it, but it can be pricey.  I've not stayed at PH or Flamingo, but both of those are good nearby options in a more budget friendly range (Flamingo is usually less than PH).  TI is quite a walk from Caesar's so I wouldn't do that unless you're sure you are going to do the dinner/Cirque show and that most of your guests would be going to it, because as a guest I'd rather stay more central to the wedding than a pre-event I might not go to.
  • hola date twin! @krislsmiley I have a block at planet hollywood too and they gave me a great rate. Super easy to work with and no liability if all rooms aren't picked up. I haven't stayed there in years. My understanding is that its not luxurious and it has more of a young party vibe, but either way, still a good value for their lower price point. We've also got a block at the Aria, which really isn't that much more money anyway.

  • We loved the Cosmopolitan. All of our guests (except my parents) stayed there as well. We booked really early, as did 95% of our guests so the rates weren't terrible but certainly more than PH and TI. I like the location of PH as a secondary hotel but it's likely your guests will scatter to different hotels anyway.

  • Hi I got married last year and we all stayed at TI. It was cheap but we didn't get a block booking, seem to remember them being awkward about it. You could try though they may be OK about it now. The hotel is OK but we love the location and price so that's why we always stay there. We brought everyone to Mystere as well after our wedding dinner and it was fantastic, we got a great rate and everyone loved it. Good luck hope you find something!

They were awkward about it with me too! It was a weird three minute conversation with me realizing that blocks do not happen at the TI...  lol. This was about a month ago. The hotel looks awesome though!

  • Thanks for all the input everyone!   The saga continues.... it turns out that Mystere @TI is dark on Fridays when I wanted to take everyone there...  after the welcome dinner.  So that isn't going to work out after all. Too bad, they had an affordable dinner/show combo.

So now I'm back to PH and Cosmo.  I just noticed PH has a 30% off sale for Nov/Dec through totalrewards.com!  That makes the rooms even cheaper.

I think this is going to work out well, we'll have some people at PH and some at Cosmo but since they're right across the street from each other that should be OK.

Now I'm looking at the Vegas show at PH after the welcome dinner,  that could be fun too.  Trying to add a bit of vegas to the weekend with the show.

Has anyone stayed at Planet Hollywood?   Any thoughts on the different room types?

    Thanks!

  • Looks like you have moved on, but for others, our room block setup at TI was very simple. Our wedding is at The Wynn, reception at The Venetian, yet TI gave us great rates and an optional resort fee.
  • Thanks @amyp1021 you never know where we'll end up, we've changed our minds so many times that I'm still looking for feedback on all of them.    how were the TI rooms?

@KrisLSmiley I stayed at PH a few years ago and we really enjoyed it. Especially being adjacent to the Miracle Mile shops, there is a lot to do, lots of food options, etc. I haven't been during pool season so not sure what their pool atmosphere is like... I definitely remember being pleased with our room though!. You could also look in to room rates at Aria, which is another great property conveniently located for your situation.

I also had a great experience blocking rooms for my guest at TI. They require a $300 deposit but you can apply it towards your room or it will be refunded after the festivities.
  • TI and PH are going to be comparable pricewise usually and I would take TI over PH anytime.  The rooms at PH seem rundown to me and the last time I stayed there we found a giant spiderweb in the corner.  I also found the TI rooms to be more comfortable, better mattresses and pillows than PH.  TI also has the tram over to Mirage that is pretty useful.

  • I just called and talked to the group room coordinator at TI, and they were very helpful. Not awkward at all. In fact they have some very specific policies in place for booking group rooms. I'm thinking that those of you who had a hard time with it may have just been unlucky and gotten a hold of some random front desk worker who didn't know what they were talking about.

I love TI! It's cheap, but the rooms are pretty nice, they have a handful of restaurants and bars, and the location on the strip isn't bad.

I agree that PH is kind of trashy and run down. I've never stayed there, but that's just the feeling I get from that place.

Cosmo is way too expensive. If I was invited to a wedding and told to stay there I would not.
