I am wearing a black dress on saturday and I want to be positive that I wont have any issues with dry scalp and those pesky white flakes. Suggestions?

I have had the worst dandruff since I went off the pill. Head and Shoulders shampoo helps a little, but not enough. So I use that and mix it with Neutrogena T/Gel (NEYers recommended it to me). However, I'm not sure that dry scalp and dandruff are the same thing ...

  • I will look at the bottle, maybe it will say on it :-)
  • Like @phira I have pretty bad dandruff. Technically it's psoriasis.

The best thing I have is a prescription steroid juice. You use it for two weeks and boom no more dandruff for like two months. Which obviously wouldn't work by Saturday for you especially if you don't have psoriasis :)

None treatment options I could recommend would be not itching/playin with your hair. And also you could lighten up the dress with a cute scarf for wrap.

T gel also works wonders as phira said but it smells horrendous (I always wash my hair a few times afterwards). Hope that helps! I'm sure you'll look lovely Saturday and no one will notice any stray flakes!
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton
  • H uses Selsun Blue dandruff shampoo and it helps him a lot. It's also good for body wash too from what I hear.
  • Can you wear your hair up in a bun? That's how I camouflage when I have bad dandruff.

  • @Blue & White, this is for a funeral, so unfortunately a light scar isn't really an option :-)

The bun might work, and I am working really hard not to scratch my head! It is hard because it is something I do when I get stressed :-)

I've also heard selsun blue is good

@Blue You won't believe this, but J LOVES the smell of T/Gel. He goes with his family to Nova Scotia every year for vacation; the first time I used the shampoo, he got all excited and was like, "What smells like Nova Scotia? Something smells like Nova Scotia!"

I'm concerned, actually, that J's really awful dry skin is psoriasis and not eczema. It's really weirdly limited to specific areas (like, it doesn't spread). Moisturizer DOES seem to help but only if he uses it at least once a day, and he doesn't use it unless I attack him with it.

  • @phira yea, I think my rosacea on my face is half psoriasis at times cause I'm just like what in the hell is wrong with you face.  I have it under pretty good control though, so I can't complain.

Also, does Nova Scotia really smell like T-gel?  if so, I might have to rethink my eventual plans of going there...
