Wednesday!!

I'm fighting with my cat today.  Now this may  not seem like news but my cat is the sweetest little peach most of the time and very well behaved.  Imagine my surprise this morning when I found her treats in the sink chewed through and empty, and my drain plug STUCK in the drain because clearly she stood on it and smashed it into the sink.  Not only that, I came back in the house from dropping my daughter off at school and she HISSED at me.  I think I surprised her and she got scared, but still!!

Also, my bf has been in such a foul mood lately, he is switching jobs and I think he just wants to be done at his current job and it's starting to annoy him.  However, he's just miserable to be around, I even asked him if he wanted a few days to himself and I'll gladly go to my mom's... he told me that it's not me I just so happen to be around to enjoy his mood.   Lucky me.

How is everyone else today? Anything exciting or annoying??

Re: Wednesday!!

  • Sorry your bf has been in a foul mood @BreMR :(  Hopefully he will enjoy his new job!

Today has been slow...this week has been slow.  Its Employee Appreciation Week where I work, so for lunch today we get Subway sandwiches and fruit. I'm pretty excited about it :) Its so nice out today (suppose to be 80 and sunny) and I just want to be outside enjoying it instead of being stuck behind concrete walls and razor-wire fences.

I surprised FI with tickets to a soccer game for next weekend. He's been talking about wanting to go to a game so I decide to get us tickets as a "thank you for being the most amazing guy I know and treating me like a princess every day" gift. He is so excited and it makes me happy to see him so happy. He deserves it.

@severmilli12, free lunch is the best lunch!! You actually work in a prison right?? So when people joke about work being like prison..you really own that saying?? :)

  • H has been feeling a bit under the weather today. I think it's allergies and he hasn't been sleeping well so he is also really tired. So hopefully he starts to feel better soon.

Today I have to go get our water turned on in our new house and we got our electricity turned on last night. I also have to go buy another grad card since we have like 2000 friends graduating right now. Today is just going to be a ton of errands.

  • @BreMR I do! I never thought about that haha. Work is literally like a prison -_-

  • My BF has also been grumpy lately. The start of his new job site (construction supervisor) keeps getting pushed back and pushed back; the township keeps extending the weight restrictions on the roads around the site and they can't get anything in to get started. He's ready to lose it and I feel terrible for him. Tomorrow is his birthday, so I'm taking him to the Jays game...I'm hoping that will cheer him up!

I've had 3 irritating calls in the last hour, so today is off to a roaring start! But I think I'm getting my hair cut tonight, so at least my day should end nicely :)

Yayy @caseface5!  I use to work as a closer and I always felt so bad for buyers who were constantly yanked around about their closing dates!! I'm glad it has arrived!!

  • I'm having a bad time - I dislike my neighbors...

The house is a rental and it turns over quite frequent, but these people will probably stay (just to make my life suck).  They keep playing in my yard, on my driveway and they keep going in my backyard... leaving the gate open and so forth.  I've told them and any adult I see over there 'please stay out of my yard, I have dogs, one is aggressive and could potentially bite' - I have 2 'beware of dogs' signs and one 'No Trespassing' sign.  My next move is to buy a lock for my gate (which goes across my driveway and sucks because I'll have to unlock it in the rain/snow to get to my garage).

The other day there was an incident.  I ALWAYS check to make sure my gate is closed before letting my dogs out.  I looked, it was closed, so I opened the door and Nessie ran out - low and behold there was a kid in my backyard.  I shoved Loki back in the house with all my might and then chased Nessie down and held her so the kid could get out.  Oh and then I noticed they've broken a piece of my fence!  I really really dislike these neighbors!!!

  • @caseface5 that is awesome!!

@Dignity100 I'm sorry your neighbours are being such a pain, that's awful. Is there any way that you can get in touch with whoever owns/operates the rental and speak with them about the issue? The landlord might be able to intervene, tell the tenants that they'll have to pay for any damage to your property, that their tenancy might not be renewed if they continue to be a problems for neighbours, etc?

  • @dignity100 something like this happened last week with my neighbors!

The kid was kicking soccer balls against a fence and one of the soccer balls ended up in our pool cover. I see the kid climbing the fence to get to the ball. I walk out and go "I'll get your football for you" and throw it over to him. This kid is notorious for climbing fences.

FI talked to the kid's dad and he was so appreciative. Apparently the old owner used to just scream at his kids.

In regards to your situation, do you know the landlord? I don't know if it would make a difference, but I'd complain to them, sometimes a letter from someone who is providing a roof over your head might change their mind, kwim?

  • So I woke up at 4am with a real bad sore throat and now I have a cold. I went to bed fine last night so it really sucks I wasn't expecting it.  I feel awful I took off from work to sleep and relax and try to get better for the weekend.  I don't want to be sick for my bridal shower this weekend.

    @caseface5 congrats! That's so exciting!

@Dignity100 I am so sorry. The lock might be your best option, even though it is a PITA for you. I also agree with @Imcooper86 about calling the landlord, and maybe escalate to the police if these neighbors keep damaging your property and trespassing after you take the other two steps.

Well, I am still at home letting my hair dry and having coffee, and BF is still asleep. It is BF's 24th birthday today, and I am trying to think of something small to do for him. I bought him a super car driving experience in Vegas over Memorial Day Weekend as his gift, but that's still a few weeks away. Maybe I will find a local bakery and buy him a strawberry rhubarb pie (his favorite) sometime today. Any other cute little inexpensive ideas would be welcome!

ETF: the coffee hasn't kicked in yet, and my spelling is atrocious.

  • I'll jump on the "my SO is grumpy" train too. FI passed up a potential job opportunity (not a good one, it was at a company he likes but it's only contract work) so now he's complaining about every little thing at his current job.

@Dignity100 that really stinks. I would have grabbed that kid by the arm and marched them back to their house. Have you tried to file a complaint or press charges? You should have some legal recourse.

I'm home, cramming for what HOPEFULLY is my last exam ever. I'm so anxious. I should have spent more time studying, but the course is just such a mess that it's hard to prepare for the exams.

Tonight should be relaxing at least.

  • @Dignity100, I don't know how you deal with that! Going with PPs and saying contact the landlord. If that doesn't work, call the police. It's trespassing. You have a visible fence. I wouldn't put up with it anymore. That's ridiculous.

Thanks guys for the support.  I have picked out a lock and will be ordering it.  My parents are going to come over and fix my fence for me (and mow my yard since I'm not supposed to because of the trigger thumb surgery) - my parents rock.  I'm sure when my dad knocks on their door to say 'I'm fixing the fence that your kids broke' he might mention that they need to stay off my property too.

EDIT:  Forgot to mention - I think I'm going to take pictures of my 'No Trespassing'/'Beware of dogs' sign in case it comes down to one of the kids getting bit/injured so I can say that I took precautions and wish not to be held liable for other people's stupidity.

  • @Dignity100 we had the same problem at our last rental - the neighborhood kids would try to cut through our yard to get to the preserve behind our house so they could play/smoke/whatever.  We were assholes about it which didn't really stop them.  One time one drove a gokart into our backyard and almost through our garage door...I'm glad we don't live by them anymore.  I would probably try to contact the landlord if possible or at least the parents of the offending kids.  Not in a "I'm telling on your kids" kinda way, but let them know that you don't want to be liable for any injuries that happen to them on your property.  It's very possible the parents don't even realize the kids have no boundaries.  It's also very possible the parents are idiots, so I mean...either way.  Good luck with it!
I guess, to tell you the truth, I've never had much of a desire to grow facial hair. I think I've managed to play quarterback just fine without a mustache. - Peyton

I'd make sure of the laws in your state on dog bites.  You already told them one of your dogs is aggressive and could potentially bite (don't know if this is actually true or not) but that could suggest you knew your dog had a dangerous propensity, also because it's a child it could affect whether or not it matters that they were trespassing.  So many issues- it's definitely better if you can find a way to get them to stay the hell out of your yard!!
