First blip in my plans

I am having my reception in a private room in a restaurant. It starts at 6, and I just found out there is another event in that room until 4pm!! I thought I was going to be able to go in earlier and set up my stuff. The manager told me i can drop everything off the week of, and they will set it up. I said what about my flowers for the center peices. She said the florist will set them up. Only problem is I was going to do them myself and bring them by earlier, I wont have time to do it after 4, I will be getting ready then. I'm not sure what to do now :( Maybe silk flowers?

Can you set up the flowers as planned, but have someone else deliever them for you?

*sigh* i hate we can't edit typos!
  • Thats my suggestion. Do your centerpieces the night before or morning of and have someone drop them off for you.
  • Yeah what the other women said.  This is a great time to start delegating tasks to family and friends.  It will all work out and be okay. :)

We have to set things up the day of the wedding??? I thought the staff at the venue set things up. Did I overlook this? I planned on bringing all my wedding crap to the venue the night before and just telling the coordinator where to put everything...

Some venues do and some venues don't. I'm dropping all my stuff off at the venue the night before. They said if the centerpieces and everything were put together they would set them on the table, but that was it so my DOC and florist will be there the day of setting everything up the way I want it. My linen rental company will be setting all the tables the night before also.

@priceisright07 - I would definitely see if you can make the centerpieces the night before and have someone else set them up for you. Even if you weren't getting ready at that time there's no way you will be able to take care of that 2 hours before your wedding.

  • I guess I can make the up in the morning, and get them there  but What I probably should say i am upset about is that I wont get to check evrything out before the reception to make sure everythng is ok I just have to trust they do it they way I wanted. I thought from the original person I booked the room with I would be able to get in there ahead of time. I had no idea there would be another function before mine but the lady i talked to is not there anymore. I'm sure everything will be fine, It just was a little unexpected from what i had planned I really thought I would be able to o in and check it all ouut before hand.

Oh I completely understand that. I've made myself paranoid of the same thing. Just make sure you give anyone who's doing stuff for you detailed instructions and try not to worry too much about it. Even if it isn't exactly how you want, you are the only one who is going to know that. Everyone else will just think it's beautiful (I'm struggling with remembering this myself because I have other people doing everything for me and I always think if I don't do it, it won't be right).

my venue set everything up for me, and the florist put the flowers where they were supposed to be.....it all turned out perfectly.  I was hesitant to leave it all up to someone else too, but honestly - this shouldn't be their first wedding (trust them!) and you'll have enough to do that morning!

I made diagrams of how I wanted things, and we set up a "mock" cookie table the day before so the coordinator could see how I envisioned it.  she knocked it out of the park and I don't regret leaving it all up to her in the slightest.  Like @tammym1001 said, leave detailed instructions, and don't worry!
