BBB registry

I admit, I stalked my own registry today. Wrong, I know, but my shower is on Saturday and curiosity got the best of me.
I now have a knot in my stomach. There are 2 items on my registry I know we didn't register for! One item we already have and the other we would never use. Both items are pretty pricey. Item #1 is $100 and item #2 is $50. Under both it says "Requested 0, Purchased 1". Someone bought these!
Why would BBB auto add items to my registry?? Has this happened to anyone else?? What do I do?
SO upset with BBB right now!

Re: BBB registry

  • I wouldn't worry about it, glitches happen, sometimes if you scan in store with a gun they forget to back out and the next couple might have started scanning before they realized it wasn't their info. Some registries will add items that are off-registry if purchased with other items on your registry.

If you don't want the items, just thank whoever sent it graciously and then return it.

This is actually good news.  The fact that they are tracked on the registry means they will be very easy to return even without the gift receipt.

I got one thing "added" to my BBB registry.  I took it back to the store and exchanged it for something else no problem.

  • I think this can happen if someone goes in there, gets your registry, and then buys something not on your registry.  If the person gives your registry info for the cashier to scan and buys this gift not on your registry, it will add it on there, that it was purchased.  That is why it says "0" requested.  It is not BBB fault it added on to your registry, it is that someone purchased it and scanned your registry at checkout.
  • Yeah, I have one small thing on my registry that I didn't register for, and someone purchased.

However, my shower was a couple weeks ago and I didn't receive it, so unless I missed it in a box of multiple things (most of the gifts are at FMIL house), it's possible that whoever bought it, bought it for themselves.

This.  We got a nice frame that we did not register for but someone had bought it anyway along with a registry gift, so when it scanned it added to the list.  This way you can return it even if you do not get a gift receipt for it.  Just thank the person for the gift and decide if you want to keep it.  You never know, you may actually like it.  We loved the frame we were given off registry and it looks gorgeous with a wedding picture we happily display.  OR someone bought an item not for you, but at the same time as they bought your gift so it added it to the list automatically since they bought something for you and gave registry info...so you may not even be given the random present.  We also had a "chocolate" added to our list, but nobody gave me any chocolate with my gift :)

  • I don't think it's anything to stress about, worst that will happen is that you have to return it : ) Also, BBB adds them to the registry if they're on a gift receipt for you so it's easier to return
