Anyone else have to part with their rings yet??

I am feeling so sad that I had to send my rings in yesterday to get soldered. Kay takes a max of ten days to get it done and so I didn't want to risk anything closer, but needed to get my rings soldered before the wedding because of the way they fit together.

The one things that is exciting about this is the next time I get to wear my rings will be when FI is putting them on my finger at the ceremony! That made me tear up thinking about that yesterday! Whew, wave of emotions here..

Anyone else in the same boat?

Re: Anyone else have to part with their rings yet??

  • I will be. I'm not getting my rings soldered, but I do need to get my e-ring redipped. I was waiting until after the last of my pre-wedding parties, and my Bachelorette party was this past Saturday, so it's time to send it in today or tomorrow. My wedding isn't until Aug. 25th, but I'm really, really nervous about not having my ring back for the wedding...

  • I will be parting with mind next Tuesday. Frown They said it should only take a week though, but they need re-sized and sodered together. Will be picking them up the Tuesday or Wednesday before the wedding.
  • I will be parting with mine just a few days before the wedding. Our wedding is next friday, and FI will take it in on Tuesday for it to be redipped to match perfectly. I am not as of yet getting mine soldered together, but we will see how that pans out after wearing them both for a while. I can't believe its this close!

  • I've been without mine for 2 weeks already and i was wringing my hands for at least 3 days when I first gave it away. I should be able to pick it up soon but I won't be able to wear it until the ceremony as well.

I still get anxious looking at my empty hand so I've been using a ring my fiance gave me our first Christmas together as a makeshift ring.... he doesn't like that though, because he says it looks dinky compared to my real engagment ring. LOL

My rings are Palladium, so they never need to be redipped and I didn't want my rings soldered together at all because I like to change it up and I am hoping FI will give me an eternity ring at 1 year so I can change my stack :D (I have 2 wedding bands right now). I'm just going to go to a jeweler nearby to have it cleaned before the wedding :)

  • I opted not to get my rings soldered....we travel a lot and i don't want to have to wear my engagement ring if we are going to an off location.  It is ok with me if I lose $2,000 of wedding bands but no so hot if I lose $15,000 of engagement ring...Yeah they are insured but i don't want to drawl any attention to it.

  • I just need to get mine cleaned since I am not doing a band, that will only take a few minutes.

  • I don't even have an engagement ring :(  When we first started dating and getting serious back in 05, he got me a promise ring that looked almost like an engagement ring from Zales, it was beautiful.  Well we broke up in 07 and I kept the ring...In the interval, I met my daughters bio dad, we were together for a while then after my daughter was born, he pretty much disappeared! So FI and myself got back together in Sept. 09 and a couple of months later, my ring was stolen! So he has gone and bought a ring that doesn't look like an engagment ring really and it is about 3 sizes too small..We are going this week to have it resized so I won't have a ring on my finger until he puts it on during the ceremony

  • Nope, no parting with my rings. My engagement ring is heirloom, and I won't solder them together, because i want to be able to continue to pass it down.

I haven't worn any ring on my finger for about 3 weeks, since I packed it away so I wouldn't lose it during the move. I haven't bothered to unpack that box yet, so I'm still not wearing a ring.

  • No parting with mine.  Got the ering cleaned the other day, and I'm not sure about getting them soldered or not.  The wedding band has some neat printing on the side of it.  I'll decide after I've worn them both for a while.

    3 days!
  • Not sodering mine. I want to be able to keep my wedding band on even when I don't have my engagement ring on.
I did have to send my engagement ring back about a month after I got it because a stone was knocked lose. I only had it for a short period of time and couldn't beleive how much I missed it.
  • I had mine soldered about 2 weeks ago and have been wearing my great grandmothers wedding ring in place of the engagement ring so my finger isn't naked :). 4 more weeks and I get to wear it all!

Haha, you crack me up. The manager at the jewerly store where my FI bought my ring knows how nervous he was when he bought it and her and I got along great and was really patient with me when I was deciding on a band to fit with my 3 stone engagment ring. I've been at the mall alot lately shopping for wedding details and outfits for events  so there were times where I would swing in and get it cleaned more than once a week if I happened to be walking by.

  • Not yet, but I will need to!  Mine also needs to get re-dipped or something like that.  I recall them saying about 2 weeks prior, so I'll probably do that in a week (for 8/25).  I am not getting a "typical" wedding band - I like my e-ring how it is and don't want to alter its appearance.  I will continue to wear it as my engagement/wedding ring after the wedding.  However, I did purchase an inexpensive titanium band that I suppose will be considered my "wedding band." I only bought this for traveling purposes - when I don't want to be flashing a diamond around.  I will wear one or the other, but they don't go together.
