JR bridesmaids

So I have 2 JR bridesmaids they are nieces. I am buying the shoes. Their dresses are a royal purple called Regency at Davids Bridal. Buying dye able shoes and dying them will run about $30 each. It was suggested by the women at DB to get a silver shoe. I think it would look ok, on an adult, but I feel like for a child (under 10) it may look too adult. Any suggestions.

Re: JR bridesmaids

  • Silver is a neutral color and would work just fine.  My niece who was 18 months at my wedding wore a purple dress and little silver sandals.  As long as the shoe style is age appropriate then the color really doesn't matter.

  • I have seen plenty of kids in silver shoes and have never thought they looked too adult.

Silver shoes are fine for any age.
  • I think that would be fine.  And....those dyeables are a one wear thing - they are going to get pitched so you might as well buy something they actually might wear a couple of times.

My 12 year old future stepdaughter is wearing silver shoes. Dyeable shoes are terrible. If they get water on them they're toast and you usually can't match them to anything else so they can't even wear them again.

Also, you might want to consider not calling them "junior" bridesmaids. They're bridesmaids if they wear the dress and stand up with you at your wedding...no need for the "junior" part.

I don't see how that would look too "adult".  Examples of girls in purple dresses and silver shoes:

  • If you require a specific shoe or a dyed-to-match shoe, you need to pay for them yourself. IME no one will look at their feet and you won't have pictures of their feet, but asking for silver shoes is acceptable.

  • I believe as long as the style is age appropriate then you will be fine, the color won't really matter if the style is fitting.
