Wedding Woes

What up?!

Rainy, crappy morning.  Going to be that way all day.  We went from 80's yesterday to 50's today.  YAY for spring in the midwest.

DH is home from work today and getting stuff done.  I'm hoping he goes to storage and gets our empty boxes so we can start the packing process.  The kiddo cleaned out his closet on his own yesterday.  And my mama is so excited we're staying and that she can help us with this whole house process.  :D

Re: What up?!

  • Today is our first day off from baseball in 9 days.  We're planning to grill even though it's not going to hit 60*.  It was even colder yesterday.  May can kick in anytime.

IDK.  As much as this last winter was the suck, I'm not really sure I want it to be blazing hot all summer.  The days on end of 90's-100's are just as daunting as the days on end with negative temps.

That said, it would be nice to at least be in the upper 60's or 70's instead of going from 80's to the 50's.  :D  But again...we're in the midwest, so we can't have nice things.

6let woke up at 3:30 coughing and then vomited all over his bed.  Ugh.

Rain storms are headed into the area.  I think it's going to be a movie afternoon.

I have so much crap for the garage sale.  5 big laundry baskets of clothes, a table of household stuff, pictures, toys, and some outdoor stuff.  MIL made  a comment about hating garage sales.  I just wanted to say, if anyone needs a purge it's the 2 people living in a 3 bedroom home that also has TWO storage units of shit.

I'm generally just in a crappy mood.

    Boo 6!  :*(  Poor 6let.

MIL has two storage units?  This shouldn't surprise me.  But here I am...surprised.

And also, that sounds like my MIL.  It's just her and FIL in their house and every closet is packed to the gills...as is the garage.  They haven't even cleaned out their garage enough to set up the freezer we bought them for Christmas. DH is so irrtated about this, but I knew it was going to happen.  So here we are in May, with shit still flying out of their freezer at us when you open the door because it's over full.  I bet they don't even know half of what is in there.  Don't even get me started on their pantry.  MIL said something about a food pantry opening up by their house and before I could stop myself, I said "So you're going to clean out your pantry and donate some stuff to them?"  ;)  I blame it on the day drinking I did on Mother's Day.
  • I'm just trying to make it. It's rough. I took a half day yesterday, so I feel like I can make it the rest of the week.

They moved 7ish years ago.  Some things went straight from the basement/garage/closet of the old house into a unit.  The unit has never been opened.  Then they got a second unit to put stuff in when her mom sold her house.  DUDE if nobody has looked at it in 7 years is it worth keeping?  Did she learn nothing about needing a DUMPSTER when they cleaned out her mom's house?

    Ugh.

This year is gonna kill me, or at least help me to learn time management and to drink more often.

gMIL (H's mom's mom) was in the hospital last night, clear CT scan, some infection and has been dealing with mylodisplacia (sp?) so she fell on Monday Night/Tues Morning and was in the hospital all day. We spent about 2 hours there last night, and then home to eat random food.  This was after H worked a 12hr on Sunday and 16 hr Monday and up early to qualify for shooting.  I felt for the guy.  I did, for reals.  Hopefully gMIL's abdomen scan is clear too, and they can get her out today.  The family is kind of reeling, you can tell, because it's been a slow decline the last year and with this mylodisplacia any kind of infection takes about 4x longer to heal or improve.  *sigh*  I feel horrible, and I love the lady but I think it's taken a lot out of her.

Also, I ran over a tiny baby rabbit yesterday and I felt horrible the entire night.  It's sad when I care more about tiny rabbits than the feelings of people.

    I'm so sorry about gMIL.

When I drove our Matrix I started calling it the carvorkian because I killed so many animals.  I haven't driven it in ages, but took it over the weekend.  Got a chipmunk and a squirrel.  Sigh. DH has been driving it for 2 years and hit nothing.

Santa Ana in full effect here. Tomorrow is supposed to be the hottest day, over 100 at my place and we are really near the ocean. Along with big winds. Already have one fire burning, hoping that it stays that way.

I work this afternoon, currently waiting for the tile guy to come and start tiling our shower! Anyone want to see pictures of the tile? Don't want to be an AW.

Well shit. Two new fires in North County. Now I have to hope we don't get one on the east side of town. It is the most likely area to burn near us, and where DD goes for daycare. :-\

    Stay safe jojo.

I have my CT scheduled for Tuesday.

  • It was 90 and humid in DC yesterday; 60 and rainy today. I'm here on business and this is insane.

DH's grandmother is a borderline hoarder, and he sometimes has trouble parting with things. I feel you all on the storage units and stuffed closets problem.

Sending good medical thoughts to 6!

  • I had a follow-up interview for the team leader position today. They said that we'll know who got the position by Friday. Only one of the four who interviewed has been knocked out of contention, so who knows what will happen. Our current team lead agreed to stay on an extra four to six weeks, so corporate can't have her yet AND she'll get to help with the transition from one team lead to another. I think it'll work out well.

I'm counting down until Friday when I get to fly out to Seattle for my best friend's wedding. It'll be nice to see him after almost seven months.
