Wedding planning feelings of gratitude

I also love reading all of the posts on all of these boards and find so many tales of unfortunate family problems, planning stresses, and financial difficulties. I've had all of these come up myself and find it easy to get caught up in them. Yet, I find myself continuously feeling lucky in terms of wedding planning. I feel so lucky for:

- A FI who hates wedding planning but helps when asked- and takes on extra responsibilities so I have more time to do wedding-related work
- Amazing, supportive parents and family
- Lots of people eager to participate in and help with our wedding
- A fabulous community of people to share experiences, advice, vents and giggles with!

In your wedding planning, what has made you feel grateful?

    I love this thread idea!

    I am grateful for...
    • A Fi who is 100% on my team when making decisions
    • My awesome Fi in general, but I think that's a given in wedding planning
    • Our financial situation is stable enough that we can save for our wedding without going into debt
    • My family has zero demands.  No added invites, no expectations, no judgments on our decisions.  And when Fi's family has expectations, at least they're coming from a good place.
    • Our wedding will be a reason to get all my close friends, who live across multiple states and countries, to the same place at the same time for an awesome party!

    I am grateful for :

    my aloof FMIL..she doesn't care that I am "taking her baby boy away" or anything like that and has had NO input on our wedding.

    Neither has my mother for that matter.

    I have had complete control over every aspect of planning, it is how my and FI want it

    the amount of time I have had to plan this thing. I am still 5 months out and everything is pretty much done and booked. We have minor things left with the exception of sending invites and doing the seating chart.

    Great thread. :-) I'm feeling all warm and fuzzy after reading @grumbledore's thread about marriage.

    I am grateful for

    - FI who is always complimenting on the work I put into the wedding. He really notices (and cares!) how much work I'm doing!

    - My parents are paying for 90% of the wedding, allowing FI and to have the wedding of our dreams that we could never afford on our own.

    - In laws that are hands-off, and just happy to see their son getting married, and could care less about anything other than that.

    - Even though I cant stand my job a lot of the time, I'm grateful that I have a flexible enough schedule and down time so that I can do a lot of wedding planning from work.

    I was grateful that my dad's offer to pay for the wedding came with no strings and also that we were able to only invite people who are part of our regular lives without fear of repercussions and no drama.
    What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

    I was grateful that my parents' money came with requests but not demands; that those requests were reasonable; that they kept saying, 'It's your day. Make yourselves happy. As long as you aren't rude, it's OK.'; that my now-DH was 110 percent on my side; that we only had minor differences of opinion; that at the end of the day, I married my best friend in our church in front of our friends and family.
