Wedding Woes

Wedding Curse?

So we have been planning for about a year and a half now and we have a little less than 4 months to go and I am starting to believe that our wedding is cursed..
Just a run down on our fun events (there are so many that I may have missed a few)
-Picked up dress from DB and it was covered in makeup stains/bottom was shredded
-Etsy invites had wrong address & spelled name wrong then ceased communication
-New invites were cut crooked & covered in pencil marks
-Maid of honor fell down steps and broke ankle
-Best man fell down at bar and broke shoulder
-Bridesmaid just dropped out 2 days ago
-Brother, whose walking me down aisle, cut off his finger at work
-Diagnosed with alopecia and my hair is starting to fall out

All of this has happened in the last 3 months! Anyone else feeling cursed??

Re: Wedding Curse?

  • OH MY GOSH!!! that's terrible :( ...

I thought WE were cursed until I read this.  We've just had small problems like:

    - couldn't find a venue for our date that could accommodate all of our guests, on our date, that would allow us to have our own caterer

    -caterer had to drop out

-my brother now refuses to be a part of our wedding

-officiant (fiancé's cousin) can not legally marry us in our state

and just more little stuff like that.

I REALLY hope your luck turns around fast!  sending positive vibes your way <3

  • What the...he cut his finger OFF? I'm so sorry! That's all awful.
I really hope things turn around. =(
    *hugs*
At the end of the day, you will be married. You may cry about all the things that went wrong, and mourn the loss of your imagined day, but I promise you, it will be beautiful, you are loved, and things will be okay.
  • Awwww, I'm sorry so many things are going wrong!
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • I am so sorry to hear all of that!.  I do agree and encourage you to remember that at the end of the day  you will be married to the love of your life, and SOMEDAY, way down the road you will be able to tell this story and laugh a little (well, not about the people who got hurt, but the rest of it).  Big hugs to you.
  • Thanks ladies! Everyone keeps saying that there are always bumps, but I feel like our road to marriage is a little bumpier. I'm hoping this little curse passes and things start going a little smoother. FI and I sat down 2 days ago to attempt to fix our crooked invites together when he pointed out that 2 words were misspelled. We just had to laugh (not going to lie laughing did turn to crying for a few moments). I'm just ready to be married now and go back to arguing about who has to the dishes lol.

I completely understand! On Mother's Day, I tripped on a 2x4 at my parents house and broke my foot. I had to pay the 2 day air expedited shipping to get new (flat) shoes in time to have my dress hemmed again. Two days later, when running late for class, I slammed my hand in the front door and broke my finger. Fortunately/Unfortunately, it's my index finger on my right hand. On Friday, I was told by the hotel where we're having our wedding they "accidently" released our rooms to general reservations and now do not have rooms for my party. My brother told me about 3 weeks ago he wasn't coming to my wedding because he wants to go to his High School reunion instead. Then yesterday my mom calls me to tell me he called her and told her he's changed his mind, and now he and his family of 6 are coming. So, now I need to add to my chair and linen rentals, and final numbers with the caterer. Believe me, I understand the feeling of the curse. ETA: Oh, and my wedding is in 1 week, on the 25th!

Oh no!!! I'm starting to feel like the things that happen by accident you have no control of and just have to laugh it off even though it reeeeeally sucks. What is really starting to wear my sunny disposition thin is when it comes to people being a little dumb (screwing up your hotel block) or inconsiderate (No offense, but I would throw your brother into that category. You're getting married once!!!!!! There is a reunion like every 5 years.). It's exhausting to deal a million little problems that I feel like should never be a problem in a first place.

Oh, believe me, I'm tempted to put my brother and his family at a table in the corner...a "time out" table of sorts!
The good news is, I was able to talk to the hotel director today and he not only got me into the suite I was originally promised, but he also gave it to me for $50/night for the trouble they've caused me! Likely only because I threatened to give them bad reviews in every avenue available to me though.
I keep telling myself only 6 more days to go...I can manage that. If everyone else would stop adding to my stress! I do hope your luck turns around too. :)

That's awesome! 6 more days is a little scary and exciting at the same time. I can't even imagine being that close. I hope everything goes very well!!
