Deciding between 2 dresses

I'm getting married this July. We're having a private ceremony and a large brunch reception at 10:30am. I've bought 2 dresses so far, and I still feel so confused about what to wear. The first dress I bought was this one from Davids Bridal:

I loved it at the store, but when I got home and tried it on again, it just feels too puffy and not at all flattering. Then I went to another store and although I couldn't find a wedding dress, I found this bridesmaids dress in ivory and paired it with a diamond sash:

I think it's much more flattering and I feel good in it, but now I'm worried that I won't look "bridal" enough.

Any suggestions or thoughts?

Maybe you should try on the second dress and play around with accessories. Maybe a veil or something will give you that bridal feeling.

I personally like the first one, but if it isn't you and you aren't comfortable in it that is what matters. Like doeydo suggested, try accessories and whatnot to see if something strikes your fancy. Maybe a birdcage veil?

Have you considered taking out a layer or two of the tulle of the first dress?

I definitely think the first one is more bridal, and agree that you should see if there are any alterations you could do to make the dress look more flattering. But I also think that you can keep looking since there are many off-the-rack dresses out there that would work for a brunch wedding.

I like the first one better too. I think removing a layer of tulle is a good idea too. Maybe add a belt and get some fun shoes? I think a cage veil would look great with it too. But its up to you!

Ditto everything buttercup said. You can kind of hold some of the tulle between your legs to see how it would look if it was cut out. Maybe try the sparkly sash with that one to see if it makes it more flattering?

I think you should wear whatever you're comfortable in, regardless of what "looks bridal." You will be a bride. You'd be "bridal" in a potato sack.

I also agree that the first one is pretty. But if you aren't comfortable the second one is also nice. I think you can dress the second one up and make it more "bridal like."

I don't think you can go wrong either way. Choose the one you feel best in.

You are having a daytime ceremony. That affects your choice of appropriate dress. The second dress style screams cocktail (evening), especially with a glittery sash. Since you are having a morning ceremony and reception, I would definitely choose the first dress. I personally like the style better, too. It reminds me of Grace Kelly in "High Society".

I prefer the first dress but you have to wear it. The important thing is that you feel amazing. As it is a small, private wedding, wear the one about which you are most confident.

I like the first one better too and agree with what everybody's said - remove some tulle if it's got too much poof for you and play with accessories.

I think you should absolutely wear whichever one you are most comfortable in - you are the bride and the last thing you want to feel is less than amazing on your wedding day. If you feel great in the second dress - go for it! It's beautiful and you can create different looks with different accessories like some other posters have suggested. I think it would look cute with a birdcage veil. Good luck

I'm with everyone else about trying to see how the first one looks with less tulle. But with the right accessory like a bird cage or other bridal type of hair accessory, the second dress can look bridal too. The first one is more of a classic bridal look and the second one is more of a sexy classic look. It all comes down to which one you feel better in because if you don't feel confident, you will not like how you looked in your pictures.

The first one is to die for!! love it! However, like everyone else has said, it's your wedding and whatever you feel more comfortable in you should go for. The second one is very pretty but does feel more like an evening gown. Good luck deciding, they are both great choices!
