Dress Shops?

Can anyone recommend any good wedding dress shops in the New Braunfels/San Antonio area? I will be looking for my wedding dress and bridal party dresses.

Re: Dress Shops?

  • I had a great experience at David's Bridal on 410 near McCullough. I got my dress there and my girls got their dresses there too. There is also an Alfred Angelo and Debi's Bridal in the same shopping center.
Best of luck to you and yours!

  • I also had a great experience at the DB on 410; that's where I ended up getting my dress. Mayfair Bridal was a great experience, too. If I had gone with the Maggie Sottero I was considering, that's where I would have gotten it.
What did you think would happen if you walked up to a group of internet strangers and told them to get shoehorned by their lady doc?~StageManager14

  • I ended up getting my dress from the Alfred Angelo on 410 near the mall.  I had an awesome experience at Bridal Galleria (also near the mall) but ended up falling in love with an AA dress.

Celebrations is in New Braunfels and I absolutely loved it there. The prices were good and I was eyeing a beautiful Maggie Sotterro dress there that was only $1085. I would ask for Jordan. They had dresses under a $1000 too. She was really helpful and sweet. I was nervous as it was my first time dress shopping and she calmed my nerves. I told her what i liked and she pulled stuff that suited my body shape. They also sell bridesmaid dresses and rent tuxes there.

I also looked at Impression Bridal which only carries their own lines. This is infront of Sears where the old Central Park Mall used to be. They have gorgeous dresses at decent prices and its open and nice in there with plenty of room for friends and family to sit. The girls there are super nice as well and they have a large selection. They also pulled stuff suited to my body shape and what I liked. They have a large amount of various sizes in their samples which helped me get a better idea of what the dresses would look like on me. I ended up buying my dress from there this past weekend. This place has a "Say Yes to the Dress" type of feel without the huge pocket book you think you need.

I know that others really like Mayfair Bridal but I have to tell you  my experience there wasn't so great. The dresses are shoved together and in bags. I had to pull my own dresses which made it hard for me because you couldn't tell what the dress looked like in a bag and you had to have muscles of steel to push each dress bag aside to look at the next one since they were shoved so compactly on the rack. The lighting was bad in there and the sales rep I had was not helpful at all. She felt a little pushy too - more like trying to convince me to like a dress rather than pulling dresses that matched what I told her I was looking for. Their prices were pretty reasonable though.

I also went to Deb's Bridal across from North Park Mall but I found that they didn't have that large of a selection. The sales rep I got was NOT friendly at all and wasn't much help. It actually seemed like it was a burden to attend to me.

I went to Bridal Galleria as well which had some gorgeous dresses. The ladies there were super nice but they only carry dresses in small sample sizes and I wear a size 14 pant so there was not really much I could try on there. If you are smaller, I would recommend. Just know that the dressing rooms are tiny and there isn't much room to bring anyone else with you.

    Hope this helps!

  • If you're looking to go the less expensive route, try IDotheDressIDo. She buys dresses from places going out of business or on-sale dresses then resales them to you for 1/2 the price of the big chains. Often has top-of-the line, name-brand dresses for a fraction of the cost. I know I sound like an ad, but I'm just a big believer. It's where I got my dress.

  • Mayfair bridal in San Antonio is great! They have a lot of designers and are great at giving you options within your budget. The owner Angelica does a great job at listening to what you want and picking out dresses that work for your body type.
