Wedding Woes

Morning

How was the weekend?  We had a busy but good one.

Saturday morning was the garage sale.  About 45 mins into it the sky opened and HAIL fell.  I drug in what I could but basically all the clothes got drenched.  I called it a day and started listing things on a local buy/sell group.  Saturday afternoon we went to the ILs for MIL's bday.  It was terrible as I thought it would be.  They actually ordered pizza (and enough for once).

Sunday was the first tee ball game.  Boy.  I have some pretty low standards- have fun, listen to the coach, don't throw dirt.  One boy didn't even meet those. He picked up a handful of dirt, rushed the batter, and threw it in her face.  The parents just laughed and said he probably wants to ask her out. No.

I also had that awkward moment.  There is a kid on the team that lives mostly with his dad in out neighborhod.  I'm loose friends with the stepmom (bunco, walks in the hood, etc), but I've never met the dad.  The mom was there and the kid was talking to me and the kids.  I don't the relationship between the parents so I had to figure out a polite way to say we live near the dad. Which sounds a lot easier now than it did in the moment.

Today we go to my mom's and back for more tee ball.

Tomorrow is CT scan day.  In true patheticness I'm looking forward to 2 hrs alone.

Re: Morning

  • Weekend was great for the most part.

Friday-DH got stuck at work until super late.  The kiddo went to a friend's for a sleepover.  DefConn and I had an indoor pizza picnic and watched Monsters University.

Saturday-We did some stuff around the house, dropped the kids at the IL's, and headed north for our concert.  We checked into the hotel, got some dinner, and headed to the venue(club).  We stood for 6+ hours, through 4 bands, a mosh pit, a few fights, and a lot of drunk people.  I had so much beer in my hair from people throwing their almost empty cups into the crowd toward the stage.  I saw at least 3 people just fall over and pass the hell out from being drunk or high.   Even though it was supposedly non-smoking, people were smoking (legal and illegal things).  I haven't left a bar smelling like smoke in for-ev-er.  The first two bands were eh.  But the last two were great.  DH was heaven because we were so close to the stage during Black Label Society.

After the concert, we got some food and went back to the hotel.

Sunday- Got up and went to breakfast.  Drove home and dropped our stuff off and started some laundry.  Got the kids from the IL's.  Came home.  The boys did yardwork and I started packing our kitchen.  I have about half our kitchen packed.  It's truly down to what we used on a week-in and week-out basis, except for a few more things.

DH is probably going to work all weekend and take a couple days off next week so he can paint and  do some repairs around the house.  We should be putting our house in the market in the next 3ish weeks.
  • We went to Sam's on Friday.  We will make sure to go on a weekday from now on.  But we price-checked everything we buy and will definitely benefit from the membership.

Saturday we mostly just hung around the house.  Son had a friend spend the night.

Yesterday we had a ball game.

My sister got engaged Friday night. Everyone is so excited.  Let the wedding planning begin!
  • That's awesome TAW!!  YAY for your sister.  :)
  • She said she was completely surprised.  It wasn't unexpected, as they had looked at rings 6-7 months ago, but she had no idea it was coming right then.

Wow, Taw, hopefully you can guide her through the bumps.  :)  That's exciting!

My weekend was 'meh'.  Race on Saturday and while I should be happy I didn't a.  die  b. hurt myself or c. quit, I should be happy.  And yet, I'm not thrilled with my time.  I need to build a bridge and get over it.  BLAH.  H spent 3+ hours at his Grandma's for a "family meeting" in regards to gma's care and what everyone's role is.  *sigh*  I just don't understand, but hey, not my grandma, and I'm staying out of it.  H can handle himself and gives hard boundaries, doesn't mean I won't be annoyed by my selfish thoughts.

Rest of Saturday was quiet mostly, I did SIL's prom makeup (she was like "THIS IS SO MUCH MAKEUP!") and then sat at friend's house for a bonfire and dinner, which was awesome.

Sunday was even more quiet, H got off work at 8am, so the house was tomb-like all morning (which I loved) and then dinner with my parents for niece's bday.  Then home to hibernate some more.

Buffy and I went to the local yuppie rich people's library booksale--'twas awesome.

We did quite a bit of 'nothing 'and some gardening--and last night my child actually used the potty--so past bedtime, we were at meijer so she could pick out her hello kitty undies.

The Mr. is having a bad go of it--he's not allowed to use his 'good' meds because of his liver being fried by them.  And he's not allowed to drink.  and he's on a doctor ordered diet to figure out some liver things.  He's jut a sad grumpypuss and that rather sucks.
  • Saturday went to a family reunion a few hours away for my late grandfathers family,  I hadn't thought I'd go anymore since him and my gma both died but it worked out I could see my mom for a few hours so I went.  She was down from MI to keep trying to settle estate which is a huge mess due to her sisters greediness.  She was the reason I had to bring gma here and take care of her myself the last 2 years of her life.  While at the reunion we had a 3 generation fail, DIL, me or  my mom didn't notice my (just turned 3) GD take off her pants and run all around.  I was so embarassed. She refuses to have a drop of water on her and had apparently spilled some.  Oh, well I will very rarely see any of those people ever again.

Sunday - church and cooked a fundraiser lunch to fund our VBS, made $300 so was pretty successful.

  • Weekend was busy!

The usual swim lessons and such on Sat. Got in a workout and partially assembled new desk. Also front loaded a bunch of errands that day since we wanted to clear Sun out for RenFaire.

Nonstop on Sunday, went to RenFaire. DD was running on fumes, but we had a good time there. DD loved to watch jugglers and the falconer...but I think a lot of it was feeling a bit overwhelmed. At least we didn't try to go Memorial Day weekend. We managed to get out of there with a few bottles of water, a shared bag of kettle corn and a $2 face painting for DD and some free art projects from the kids craft area. Thrifty win-ish ;)

As far as the start of this week, well, it started with unclogging a toilet someone else clogged X-(

  • Taw, congrats to your sister.

I went with my sister to look at invitations Saturday, and we looked for shoes and jewelry. I was worn out by 3:00, so I made her feed me. It was fun, though.

  • I went to Seattle for my best friend's wedding and it was awesome! His mother-in-law gave one of the sweetest toasts and mentioned that before December 2012, their marriage wouldn't have been possible, and that they and multiple others have proven that the citizens of the state of Washington were right in voting in favor of marriage equality. There was a lot of me crying like a little bitch during that ceremony. I'm looking forward to the pictures because it was a really awesome ceremony. Fortunately, I took my camcorder along, so I got the entire Daoist ceremony and the first toast on video.

Today's my day off, so I'm kinda sitting around the house until I have to go get a tire replaced at 1. I'm looking forward to seeing husband when he gets off of work because he got home after I left for the airport on Friday and was already asleep when I got home last night. All of the Mt St Helens coverage is making me want to watch that terrible movie Dante's Peak, so I may have to seek that out as well.

I ended up going to my concert alone, and in the end, I'm glad I did.  It was a really great concert.  It wasn't ideal to be there alone, and standing in the pouring down rain for hours wasn't ideal either.  The crowd wasn't as rowdy as mrs.conn's concert crowd, but I just don't understand how people can spend so much money on beer.  Beers were an average of $6 each and people were downing them like it was an open bar.  What the heck?  I had one hard cider at $6.50 and couldn't bring myself to spend any more.  How do you justify spending $60+ in one night on beer?  Am I that cheap?  And then all the drunks presumably drove home, because I didn't see too many designated drivers in these groups.  I high-tailed it out of there to avoid the drunks when it was over.

Saturday was busy.  DD's ice skating lesson, then her last soccer game of the season (in the freezing rain!  We were lucky that we didn't get hit with the hail that 6fsn got.)  Then, between the rain, we got lunch at a festival in our village.  Let DD play on the bouncy houses a bit.  And then it was ballet class.  Pizza for dinner and watched "Man of Steel" - - DD fell asleep halfway through which is for the best since I felt it was way to dark for her.  (DH had already seen it and thought it would be fine for her).

Yesterday I went shopping.  Bought a bunch of new makeup at Ulta, some summer clothes for DD at Carter's, k-cup coffee at BB&B, then a quick trip to the insanely crowded Trader Joe's for guacamole ingredients.  Then we had a b-day party (with fajitas, yay!) for my step-dad.  Everyone loved my guacamole and I ate way too much of it.  And then we came home, put DD to bed, watched an episode of True Detective (I think it was episode 5.  It is such a good show.) and then the new Game of Thrones.  Man, that show is amazing!
  • I took Friday off because we're selling our house, our realtor was coming to take pictures, and the big stuff was done but there were 100 little things to do.  So I did them, he took the photos, I picked the kids up early and took them for cupcakes.  (DS was just a bystander in the whole cupcake scheme, but it didn't seem to bother him.  He's just likes to go along for the ride.)

Saturday I spent a lot of time with the kids and doing chores and following everyone around to keep the house in showing-condition.  Sunday we decided to go to IKEA after swim class, so it was a quasi-military operation:  change of clothes for DD, lunch for DS, snack for DD, restock the diaper bag, etc.  We ate at IKEA and everything, it was five hours from the time we left for swim until we came rolling in from IKEA.  Not one showing, and then 20 min. after we got home, we got a request for someone to see it at 7:30 last night.  Which is DS's bedtime, and approaching DD's.  We accepted, especially since we were hoping that someone looking at houses at 7:30 on a Sunday night is not just casually looking, but the kids were exhausted when we got home.  Won't be doing that again.
Today I got up to find some crazy anti-premarital sex repost on my Mom's FB feed, along with some repeal Roe v. Wade nonsense, and I (mentally) disowned her.

Flo, I'm so glad you went. I know it wasn't the ideal situation, but you can scratch it off of your bucket list.

  • Y'all's weekend lists exhaust me.

I had been having problems sleeping all week and I made up for deficit in a big big way this weekend and it was glorious.  I don't feel fuzzy headed anymore.  I did some laundry and worked on some leadership stuff.  I didn't get out of my PJs....actually at all, I just changed into new fresh PJs each day.

Saturday we got our desk/computer moved out to the family room and out the old sleeper couch and swing table we had out for give away. Also got the toy fridge and stove from my sister for DD, she thinks they are pretty awesome. Also just got some general cleaning up done.

Sunday we grab breakfast and went out to fly kites, then came home to try and get DD to nap, which failed. So we watched star trek and put my composter together. Which was only supposed totoo take 2 hours according to the instructions, but they didn't have a16 month old helper I assume. But it is together and I can start composting now.
