Wedding Woes

My pothead friend needs a favor

Dear Prudence,
A very good friend of mine, Peter, is on the verge of being hired for a job he desperately needs. The problem is the company requires a drug test, and he smokes pot daily. So he asked to “borrow” some of my clean urine, so he can surreptitiously pass it off as his own. Peter is married with a child, and is a generally great guy, though he is a little on the irresponsible side, and has had issues (not pot-related) keeping jobs. This job is working in an office and doesn’t involve law enforcement or public safety. I want to help him and his family, and I have no moral issue with people smoking pot. I have a well-paying job and a family of my own, so I have a lot to lose. I know the simple answer is to tell him to stop smoking pot, but that’s not going to happen. Are there any legal ramifications for me if I help him and he gets caught?

  • That would be, 'No.'

  • He needs to stop smoking, first of all, and go to a head shop to get some urine cleaner. Asking for someone's pee is just dumb.

  • Head shop?  Urine cleaner?  Are there really such things?

    Yes and yes

I thought the urine cleaners were mostly debunked?

But what do I know, they don't let me pee in a cup, they do hair tests on me.
  • They can work. I have a friend who is a habitual user - he doesn't drink, he does pot instead - and he says they're decent. You actually have to stop using for a bit, though.

And yes, most places have head shops, even outside Colorado. I mean, I can buy pot supplies at my tobacconist's, but I remember places selling "water pipes" in my home state when I was in high school.

According to the train wreck of a kid I used to babysit the urine cleaners don't work.  Apparently his PO is also a c*** because she bounced him back to jail for failing a second time.  He's also talking about panhandling to get money to go to The Gathering.

I really need to step away from his facebook page.

Yeah, the Mr's job didn't get the last crew of new hires because they all failed the (PREVIOUSLY SCHEDULED-YOU KNOW WHEN IT IS) drug test.

Several of them showed their medical card, but, unfortunately, CDL issues doesn't accept that.  (which is BS, I nkow.  But thems still the rules right now)

DH is interviewing someone with 2 DUIs and a sexual assault conviction.  He wants no part of this guy, but HR says they have to interview it.  He's replacing someone that got fired for threatening to shoot the place up.

This is after they had a real shooting just a few years ago.

HR people really make me *headdesk* sometimes.  So damn afraid of being sued.

    Oh, my sweet summer child.

  • There's really no way to pass off a sample that's not his.....temperature controls and such....they'll reject his sample and his app will likely get rejected for screwing with the mandatory testing.

  • tell him to stop smoking for a while then look for a job there is nothing he can do at this point cleaners wont work . and because he has smoked recently its still in his system
  • Start drinking as much water and cranberry juice as you can manage! Obviously this method also requires you to quit for a while. If you can't quit for a few weeks to pass a drug test, then you have a problem.

Yeah, call me Nancy Reagan, but if one can't stop smoking for a few days or weeks in order to get a job... Yeah, one's got bigger problems than any urine cleaner could tidy up. That little recreation is not so harmless recreation.
