So......

I'm enjoying a little lunch at the ol' desk.

Anybody, have anything to talk about.

I forgot my lunch today so I'm eating the emergency food stash.

Also, I am sorting equipment.  I have baggies of thumbtacks, binder clips, pipelceaners, sewing pins, and variuos wood beads ALLLlllover my desk.

I'm awfully boring recently in terms of things to talk about.
  • So, the first band we saw on Saturday was fronted by two very beautiful girls who screamed/growled their way through every song.  I had many thoughts about it.  But mostly, my throat just hurt thinking about all the screaming they do.  They can't keep that up for too long.

The second band was four dudes who dressed the 'part' and then the lead singer who looked like he literally got up off his recliner and showed up to perform at a metal concert.  He was wearing an Addidas dri-fit shirt and sweatpants.  He also kept mean-mugging the crowd wordlessly between each song.

DH said that he was worried about me when the moshing started, especially at one point when we were picked up by the crowd and shoved back about 10 feet involuntarily.  But I had no issues shoving the aggro-dudebros out of my way/off me when they were getting too rowdy.  DH said it was hot.  ;)
  • Look at you, growling backup singers, and a mosh pit. It's like 1994 all over again. What band was this?

  • I think their name was either Butcher Barbies or Butcher Babies or something like that.

And yes, it definitely felt like 1994.  I didn't get moshing back in '94 and I still don't get it now.   It just looked very...painful. And stupid.  But stupid is probably painful most of the time.  ;)

They were especially bad during Down, which is made up of some of the former members of Pantera.  Metalheads...Le sigh.

  • I did find somewhere to volunteer this summer. I will be teaching an adult ESL class one night a week. I think it should be fun.

I do have a question. I need advice on how not to have a lame bachelorette party. There will be no men in gold thongs named Sexual Chocolate shaking their groove things. So, I need other ideas. Besides good food and cocktails, I'm at a lost.

I'm going to follow on NOLA's coat-tails re: bachelorette.
I'm fairly sure I'll end up planning baby sis's.  Unfortunately baby sis is a party girl--and whle I am significantly more hip and cool than my other sis, as y'all know, I'm neither hip nor cool.
And I'm giong to bet baby-sis's cool friend will be wanting something much better than I can plan.  (Maybe I can hand one of them money and let them deal with it for me)
  • What about a spa day with a nice dinner out after?  Or a nice dinner out and go to a fancier, higher end bar/club?  Dinner and comedy show? Wine and canvas and dinner?
  • Conn, I like those ideas. I'll have to start my research early.

  • What are her hobbies?  Do those.

The most fun I ever attended was the bachelor party of my friend, J.  Yep, I was there b/c both DH and I were good friends.  He was one of our gaming buddies, so we rented the big gaming room out, had tons of boardgames and a LAN party and brought in food and beer.  We had a blast and our faces and stomachs hurt from laughing so hard  B/c it's what he liked.  A recent friend was part of our dining club group and we had a massively awesome home cooked gourmet meal for her complete with wine pairings.  We practically had to roll out of the host's house.

DH also liked another one that was starting off the night at their favorite bar in their private cigar room, then they went to play mini golf, then to another favorite bar.  His least favorite was a friend of ours who's best man was insistent on going to a strip club, when the groom would've rather broken a bone.  He said groom was miserable the entire time, uncomfortable and just got drunk.

I'm currently in the midst of planning a bachelorette weekend which includes a stay at a really nice cabin just outside of the city.

Of course the heffers haven't RSVP'ed yet, so it looks like there will be three of us roaming around in a giant nicely appointed cabin at this point.
