Destination Wedding & Favors

My Fiance and I are doing a destination wedding, ad we are doing a goodie bag for every guest, to be put in their rooms upon arrival. Could this count as the "wedding favor", or do we have to also do another favor at the wedding? We are filling the bag with a lot of edible treats that coordinate with the theme of the wedding. The actual wedding venue does not allow us to bring in outside food for liability purposes, so we figured this may be a good way to give the favors. Any feedback?

    I think it's fine. Favors aren't required. Since people are travelling, I think if you're providing a great meal and open bar, you're totally in the clear.

    I had a destination wedding last year and the welcome bags doubled as favors. The guests got them upon check in. It was nothing bag. Just a small simple gesture.

    We put a welcome/thank you note, a magnet, lottery ticket, and spray bottle fan in a tote bag.

    I love that!

    My brother and SIL gave bags with our own reusable cup with a lid and straw with our names on them (they just used a label maker), which was amazing since we kept it to use for the whole week we were there. No losing your drink! 

    They also included an "Oh, shit!" kit with Purell, mints, gum, aspirin, tums, and chapstick, plus a schedule of events like wedding olympics, volleyball, dinner, etc. (It was a "join us if you want" thing; no one was expected to attend if they didn't want to.)

    At my sister's destination wedding, her escort cards were slipped into luggage tags in her wedding colors. That was kinda our favor. And now I have an orange luggage tag on my pink suitcase! Nobody mistakes my bag for theirs.

    I was a destination bride and I did the welcome bags with lots of goodies and local treats and then no favors at the actual reception.

    Thanks for all of your help guys, this was really helpful! I was worried about the favor things, but we are loading the bags up with lots of fun stuff, so I know the guests will be happy. I love the luggage tag idea! I may add that to the bags!
