WR: Help me with my wedding look

Hello ladies!!

I need help with my wedding look - hair and jewelry/accessories mostly.

So this is me in my dress:

And the back:

This is the veil I got (and I hope it works with my dress) - it's a 2 tier beaded edge fingertip veil

Shoe's I'm still undecided on (depends on my foot situation) - my current options are - but I might go for a lower heel yet:

Now here's where I need help!!!
So as far as jewelry goes - my ears are NOT pierced.  I think I'd like some sort of 'earring' but piercing is not really an option.

Also I need help with hair - I have a few styles I picked out, but not sure if I want to do an 'up do' or 'half up do' or 'down'.  I typically wear my hair down.  My hair is pretty thin - and is typically wavy/frizzy but I straighten it.  I'll get the pictures of the styles I'm looking at posted in a little bit.

Re: WR: Help me with my wedding look

  • I think you would really great and elegant with half up half down.

Think about these as far as earrings go, and they do carry some clip ons in most stores like Macy's.  What kind of earring style would you like?  A post style, or dangle?  Any stones like pearls or "diamond-like" or other colored stones?  Or just plain silver/gold?

  • I know I've said this before but I LOVE your dress, and the veil is really pretty too!

I agree that it would look really pretty with your hair half up. I also second the recommendation for Macy's if you're looking for clip on earrings.

  • Do they still make the convertors for turning pierced earrings into clip-on earrings? If so, that could open up the door to a lot of possibilities.

I think half up/half down would look nice, but how hot is it going to be on your wedding and how much activity will you be doing? It might be a good idea to have your hair up.

  • As far as hair goes - these have been my favorites:

Picture 1 (this is probably my fave 1/2 up/down style)

And then will I want like a head band or a comb for my hair (or if I go with the first one, I guess I could just get the glitzy bobby pins.  It's cases like these I wish I was more of a girlie-girl.

So Macy's has clip-on earrings?  I thought I was limited to Etsy!!  <<THESE>> were the ones I think I was leaning towards, but I'm totally open to suggestions

@lalalaurita - Thanks so much for reinforcing I chose the right dress. I keep thinking I should have went with something a little more conservative (lace with straps or a illusion neckline) or something.

  • @Buddysmom80 - Historic weather for Florida has it:
    Average High 81
    Average Low 66

in 2013 on my wedding date
    High 86
    Avg 78
    Low 70

My wedding time is at 2:30 so it should be past the hottest part of the day.

As far as activity -- the plans as of this moment for the day are:
Arrive at the location at 2:00pm; get some pre-wedding pictures in
    Wedding 2:30
    2:45 more photos - family/friends
    3:00 champagne toas
    3:05ish cake cutting
3:10ish traditional dances (First Dance - mother/son & father/daughter if we do them)
3:20ish-5:00 - more pictures (we'll have somebody take our cake to the restaurant for dessert)
    5:15 Dinner
7:45 Go over to Epcot for dessert party & fireworks
10:00 All done - get everybody back to where they need to be

So there's not going to be all that much dancing or anything, mostly chit-chatting and eating.

  • @dignity100 I LOVE the first picture! I'm biased though becuase I'm doing half down/half up for my hair.

I just worry about humidity with your hair, my hair curls perfectly when there's 0 humidity, but the minute it starts getting humid out, forget it! If I were you, I would be wearing it all up like picture three.

Looking at the travel planner thing - it doesn't look like its all that much more humid than Ohio.  I'm not overly concerned as I would be if it was in July/August - USUALLY if my hair has a curl to follow, it will follow the curl and not get TOO frizzy (with proper product or course)

I can probably decide 'day of' depending on the weather/forecast.

    EDIT - reply happy

@Dignity100 .... Honestly, don't underestimate the humidity. I've had lots of friends move to Georgia from Indiana and Ohio and the general area and they thought they knew what humidity was until they came here...and Florida is that much worse...especially somewhere like Orlando where you aren't directly on the coast. I think I'd focus more on an all-up style. It won't be significantly cooler at 2:30 and may in fact feel even hotter! Just my experience...now you could potentially have an absolutely gorgeous 72 degree day with zero humidity but IMO it's best to be prepared. I would try to do a trial with both styles just to get an idea of how well they hold up and how they feel throughout the day.

  • @LaPeanut1018 the only problem with having both styles done is like you've said, the weather here in Ohio isn't the same as it is in FL.  I can probably have FI's mom take a look at the styles and get her opinion and maybe even have her do my hair for me (she was a stylist, fun fact, she was a stylist for the ladies at a 'gentleman's club'.  She didn't always agree with their line of work, but it was good money for her.)

  • I love half-up half-down styles ( I may be biased since that's how I did my hair ) but I also agree with what others have said regarding weather conditions. My stylist told me that if I wanted to have my hair down for the ceremony and then bring some pins along with me, she could show me how to pin the hair to the side so it would be a "side do" for the reception? I don't know if that would be an option but I figured since you would be dancing and such, it would be nice to get that hair out of the way.

@Sourthernpeach89 - you just gave me an AMAZING idea - I can go with the half-up/down that I love and it if needs to go up, I'll bring pins and ask FI's mom to do something with it!!  I will warn her ahead of time so I know what I need to bring with me (bobby pins/hair spray/whatever).  She's done my hair before for events, so it's not like she doesn't know what I like.

    Edit - spelling is hard
