They really are! The bathroom is not a fun place to spend your time.

I'm just glad I was able to cross off "poop in a cup"  from my bucket list as @goldenpenguin put it ;)
Oh god did they give you the "hat" to use? That's always fun.

I will say, smartphones make GI illnesses much more bearable.

Look, I know you. If there's anyone with "poop in a cup" on their bucket list, it's you, Sisser. ;)

  • Oh god the hat is so gross! But I'm thrilled you're feeling better :)

Poop in a cup was not on my bucket list but shit happens. Pun intended

Glad to hear you're feeling better!!  I'm glad you didn't let your sickness ruin your love of your vacation... I see a lot of people get scared away from places after that! I appreciated your upbeat attitude about it :)

Yes, Costa Rica was beautiful and I would totally go back! I still have no idea what caused it. It could have even been something I ate before leaving and it just didn't affect me until a few days later.

@swazzle it's basically a plastic bowl that has plastic supports so you can put it between the bowl and the seat, so it's easier to collect samples. It's surprisingly helpful, but unsurprisingly really embarrassing.

@phira I was not blessed with such a contraption! The have me a plastic cup and then a baggie with 4 smaller cups/test tube sort of things that I had to fill with what I collected in the cup. It was..... interesting.

  • @phira the worst part of the hat is that you can't get urine in it. Or maybe when I was feeling faint and had to have a make nurse stand outside the bathroom while I was trying to go in the hat. Oh the things I endured for this illness lol

  • I've used the hat. I got H. Pylori last year and had to use it. It was miserable but it sounds much better than going in a cup.

    Glad you're feeling better!!

How are you supposed to get that into a cup?!

@Blue I remember thinking, "Please--how hard can it be to not get urine in the sample?" Surprisingly hard!!
