So frustrated re: hair & makeup... (somewhat vent-y)

One of my big goals for break was to find and book a hair stylist and makeup artist for the wedding, hopefully finding one affordable enough that FI and I can offer to pay for hair & makeup for all of the BMs.  But so far, NOBODY has responded, not even a quick message of, "Sorry, I'm booked for that date."

FI heard about a bridal show on the radio the other day, and offered to take me to talk to vendors there since he knew I was looking.  I thought it would be a good idea - but there was a whopping ONE salon represented, and the woman there seemed more interested in getting rid of us than getting to know us, after we'd waited 5 minutes to talk to her and with nobody waiting behind us.

I'm disappointed now, and I'm starting to feel like I've somehow been blacklisted in the state, haha.  I've tried to communicate with every stylist/MUA recommended by the ladies on my local board, and so far nothing.  My favorite spa in the area has its own wedding coordinator, and she hasn't even responded.  It's incredibly discouraging, I just want some answers at this point, even if it's negative...

  • I'm sorry you're going through this. I also hate getting no response. Just tell me you're busy so I don't waste both of our time! Have you tried calling any place or just email?

  • So far just email - several of the places ONLY have an email listed, so it's the only way to get in contact with them, and not only do I get tongue-tied on the phone,  but we currently have really poor service in our area (long, frustrating story) and no land line.

    I am also trying to get my hair stuff lined up, but we need two girls and we probably won't be able to get into our suite early enough to do it there. :( Who knew hair could be so stressful? haha

    I'm going to try that next week - my phone is finicky and our service sucks at home; we think a tower was taken out of commission by storms last winter, and they haven't/won't fix it.  But I'm getting a new phone in a few days and will hopefully have a good reason to be out of the house and somewhere with service.

  • The problem we had with the MUA was the holidays as well; my hair stylist is a friend who owns the salon where I get my hair done anyway so I got lucky. But the MUA was a horrific nightmare. Our first choice wouldn't come to us, our second choice was $175 per girl (just no) and the last choice said her bookings weren't until after the holidays.

    When we contacted her last week she was able to get us in at a great rate; don't give up! It will work out!
