Which chairs? (Poll)

I'm debating between ceremony seating.  Our ceremony is outdoors at our venue, which is a gorgeous Newport-style mansion on the water.  Our guests will only be seated approximately 15 minutes total.

I hate the look of the free chairs - I think next to such an elegant venue, it looks cheap.  However, the nicer chairs are going to cost me a bit of money.  Nothing ridiculous, but I might rather spend it on something on the honeymoon!  I just don't want to look at my pictures and hate the chairs.

What do you think, worth it?

Do the second chairs look a bit nicer, sure.  But once they are full of people they will be hard to notice.  Plus, once you and your FI are there, there is a beautiful bride and a handsome groom to draw focus to.  If people are looking at the chairs, they are paying attention to the wrong thing!  Save it for a nice bottle of wine or a couples massage (depending on how much you are saving)!
  • The focus on the ceremony will be up at the alter where you and your FI are getting married. I would go with the free chairs. Enjoy!

I agree the second ones look a bit nicer, but not enough so that I'd be dropping a lot of cash to switch.
  • The last thing people are going to remember are chairs.  Once they are filled with people no one will notice, andplusalso, they wont be in them for long.  I was more concerned with my venu chairs (which ended up being perfect) since people will see those for awhile.  You can always dress up the isle seats with tissue paper poms or flower poms if it really irks you.  Otherwise, save some money and just deal with the free ones :)

  • Dont spend the extra money. The free chairs look just fine! :)  Instead treat yourself to nice romantic dinner with your hubby on the honeymoon :)
  • Are the free chairs sturdy? That's the only thing I might worry about a little, especially if you're on uneven ground or flooring.

Definately go with the free ones..... Honestly I have never looked at a picture and said " gee would have been a great picture if they were sitting in a different chair."

Save the cash and use it for something for you and your FI!!!
  • I thought you were going to show me those ugly metal folding chairs with like rust marks on them lol. They are white, they are fine. I swear, totally fine. Spend the money elseware!

  • Go for the free. no one will pay that much attention to your chairs. The second chairs are nicer but not enough to spend more money

This! No one will notice...def go with the free ones. I can't wait to hear about your wedding :
  • I don't even know what kind of chairs our venue has for the ceremony! haha! But as others have said, go with the free ones. I attended a wedding with chairs just like that recently, and everything was beautiful!
  • Your guests will put their bums on these chairs and of course nobodys going to be like wow.. I really wish she would have got the nicer chairs. Spend the money elsewhere
  • OMG not to take away from your post, but I'm SO glad to read that I'm not the only person having a really tough time deciding on chairs!! At first I was dead set against the chairs at my venue...and then the other day when I was at the venue and the coordinator actually told me that it was KINDA silly to spend an extra $6.50 per chair cover and bow, I felt a little foolish "needing" the darn covers. $650 can almost pay for the videographer!

Go with the first, included ones.

  • I had the same dilemma! It is not worth spending many hundreds of dollars for those chairs. I would say to ask your photographer to maybe not take any photos of the chairs before guests are seated in them. When everyone is seated, no one will notice.
